DNF - I Normally like this author’s work but was not a fan of this one. Space particularly the big fish little pond conversation about college. I got frustrated it felt like he was making excuses for people who are used to doing well but they couldn’t handle not getting straight A’s. They need to suck it up.
I'm a Malcolm Gladwell fan. Of his books, David and Goliath is my new favorite with the Tipping Point a close 2nd. His explanation of the David & Goliath story was fascinating. I especially liked Part 3 "the limits of power" and the examples of Wilma Derksen and Andre Trocme.

So the David and Goliath story that the book opens with was fantastic. The story is convincingly spun on its head. The rest of the book about "Underdogs, Misfits and the Art of Battling Giants" is occasionally interesting, but wanders all over the place with disparate stories that sometimes questionably and always only tangentially fit the theme. Stories ranged from the battle in northern Ireland, to impressionists, to dyslexics, to the bright student who had a hard time at Harvard. I listened to this or wouldn't have gotten through it. The stories tended to be repetitive and out of context, and most weren't that interesting. He kept trying to reinforce the central theme by stating it, which wouldn't have been necessary had it been a tighter more interesting book.
But for sure, read the David and Goliath story.
