Gladwell always gives you something to rethink or re-examine. I love that.

By far the best book by Malcolm Gladwell. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Even with my low expectations, I am still disappointed. Malcolm Gladwell's books usually follow the same structure: totally fascinating anecdotes that are kinda sorta connected to whatever theme he's decided on. Formulaic but usually worthwhile. This time around I found it all really uninteresting, and so completely inconclusive. Bummer.

Interesting case studies, less than convincing argument to tie them all together.

A phenomenal book! I don’t think I can say I dislike nonfiction anymore because I’ve found so many exceptions- both of Malcolm Gladwell’s books that I have read are exceptions. This book puts a voice to several things that have been rolling around in my mind for years, but didn’t know how to fully express. Not only does Gladwell talk of how disadvantages can be advantageous, he provides examples and even data to back it up. This is a GREAT read- and I can’t wait to recommend it to my students!

Loved Tipping Point and loved this too. He has a way of bringing all of these complicated individual stories together into one seamless narrative.

Gladwell's books are all quite similar - he is forever proving that individuals are more than the sum of their parts and that community, time, and culture all play strong roles in our development of a sense of self. More interesting stories that I keep relating to everything else I'm reading!
