Featuring ~ dual 3rd person POV, single mom, cheating ex-husband, absentee father
NOT enemies to lovers as it states in the blurb ~ not sure why it says that at all, did I take a snooze while I was reading?
Oh the joys of living in a community with a HOA.
Amelia is trying to start over with her 2 children after her divorce. She moves into a neighborhood and right off the bat she has an enemy in Carla, (they don't get together so that's not the enemy part). Carla has a problem with the gnome in their front yard ~ the gnome that she promised her kids she'd display as a way to ease into their new life. Now Amelia has a fight on her hands ~ can she convince the HOA to change the by-laws?
HOA president, Kyle, is easy on the eyes and trying to keep the peace in the hood. He was never interested in being around children, but can't help but befriend Amelia, Jacob and Chloe. An attraction is there, but can they make this work?
Overall, I wasn't wowed, but I did like that Amelia was such a great mom. There were some really heartfelt moments between them and she said all the right things.
I didn't really care for any of the characters, Amelia's friends and her next door neighbor were okay, but Carla was just awful.
I was fortunate enough to receive a kindle copy and the audiobook to review. I started out listening to it, then switched to my kindle, then back again and ultimately I preferred the kindle, so that's how I tackled most of it.
Narrated by Eva Wilhelm for 8 hours and 34 minutes. I was not overly in love with her narration, she sounded robotic at times. I really wish there was a male narrator.
*Thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca and Dreamscape Media, the author and NetGalley for the ARC and the audio copy. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review*

A single mom moves into a new neighborhood with her children and almost instantly gets into a battle with the HOA over a lawn gnome. But when she meets the HOA president, he is very attractive, and as gnome-gate gets more intense, Amelia and Kyle become good friends, and maybe even more.
This book was so cute. I really appreciated seeing Amelia as a mother throughout this story. I loved how she was really there for her kids and was so wonderful and supportive as a parent. Even better, we saw her go through a healing journey of her own and still have time for herself. I’m not a parent, but I felt this was a really good depiction of motherhood. In addition to that, this book had some really funny moments. I loved the HOA battle and gnome-gate was so entertaining!
I switched between ebook and audio and really enjoyed Eva Wilhelm’s narration.

3.5 Stars. This is the story of Amelia, who moves with her two children into a neighborhood whose HOA has forbidden her from keeping her kids’ gnome on their front lawn. She meets Kyle, who happens to be the HOA board president. The romance is a very slow burn, as Amelia puts her kids first, as she should. Their father has checked out, and while Kyle is good with them, they needed their mom’s attention. The story itself was cute, but the writing could have used some help and I found the dialogue a bit awkward.
Thanks to NetGalley for an audio version of this book!
Loved the narrator for this book. She did a great job adapting her voice to the different characters.
This book had some really good parts, but overall, I kind of found it problematic. I don’t think the world needs more stories if moms trying to be martyrs or shrill women who are bullies. The premise: a rather silly promise about a gnome in a yard, seemed, well silly. Just not really a book for me

This book offers a lot more than a love story, though honestly the love story is a very small part of the story. In addition to providing the slowest slow burn ever, it offer excellent commentary on parenting, life, relationships, and standing up for what you believe in. I found the MCs and their relationship really sweet despite them both being pretty wishy washy about what they wanted. I really appreciated the way Amelia was depicted-the mom guilt representation was amazing and incredibly realistic. This was a cute story, but I found the flow to be a bit weird.
I was given an ARC of this book by NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca. All opinions are my own.

With Neighbors Like This was a fantastic read! A story of motherhood, starting over, found family, romance and community - it was heartwarming, laugh out loud funny and full of feel good moments!

Another move to new town, meet the most dependable guy trope. But this lady is unrelenting. It’s just a dang gnome. In the end, the kids were alright to move it from the lawn. A whole book about nothing. A waste of time.
This book is about a single mother with two cute and smart ass (I will put my bucks in swear jar I swear) who are trying to adjust in a new town a new community. I loved how this book was a general fiction but talked so much about healing and growing and dealing with bullying but all letting your guards down.
I loved every friendship that was shown in this book and obviously the goddamn slow burn it had my heart. Though this book was more about Amelia but I felt her Children held a greater presence and it was good but I felt like her snippets when she is alone should have been shown too.

This book was a massive letdown. The summary describes it as enemies-to-lovers, which is a straight up lie. The MCs start flirting, and the HOA president is on board with the anti-Carla sentiment from the beginning. They start flirting immediately, so the whole 100 pages I read was cringy flirting, cringy kids, and cringy "perfect mom" crap.
The writing is also awkward. It's stilted and unnatural. The kids don't read like their actual ages at all, and the author shifts their maturity to fit jokes (and bad ones at that). I was so disappointed in this. I thought I would love it based on the summary, but it doesn't match the actual content at all.

I thought this was really good. I loved Amelia’s relationship with her kids. She always said the most amazing things and you could feel her love for them jump off the page. The kids themselves were adorable. They were not without faults or trauma, but they had such wonderful personalities.
The romance was a little irritating. At some point the friendzoning when clearly you want to be more just goes on too long and that’s what happened here. Although I did really like their interactions when they were together. They were a wonderful couple and I wanted more of them.
The whole Gnomegate plot was fun. And Carla was fun to hate. I liked the direction it ended up going in the end.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book.
