There is so much wrong with this book, but yet I enjoyed it. Full of spice, maybe a bit too much (if that is a thing) and drama. You have to throw feminism out the window and get on board with a bit of gratuitous killing, but if you can see it as pure escapism, then you will probably enjoy it. I’ll read the next one for sure.
I haven't been able to concentrate enough to read an entire book since May 2023. Considering it's March 2024, and I'm an author, that's kind of a problem.
I've picked up books, put them down, picked up books, put them down, too. My bestie suggested this one. I'm not usually a Mafia romance kinda girl (As a sports romance author, I tend to gravitate to sports romance) but I'm researching for a co-write someone's asked me to do, and I need to read all the Mafia books - plus, I got locked out of my Facebook account and got desperate for something to do.
Six hours later, here we are.
Who knew that all I needed was a little bit of Bratva fun?
Nat and Sloane have the most hilarious friendship, the banter, the love, the protectiveness - the flexibility to push harder than other people would because you know how much each other can take, it's a precious thing, real friendship, (and I can't wait to see how Sloane looses her heart in the next book.)
Kage had me from 'hello,' okay, not hello cause he didn't say hello he said 'not interested' but still.
Yes, I know it's not real, yes I know it's the romanticised version of a Mafia romance, but even Tony Soprano and Carmela had light moments of fun and joy - am I right?
The steam was smokin' hot (though taking Kage's full peen in her butt the first time they do the butt-sexy-times was probably the most unbelievable part of the book for me! LOL)
Dramatic, engaging, compelling, and made me forget that I couldn't go check my Facebook for a whole 6 hours. The first book I've been able to successfully finish in 10 months, so thanks for that.
I just submitted a video to FB to prove I'm a real person. While they take their time in getting back to me, I downloaded the rest of the series. I'm hooked. I love that these women have spines of steel, and I love that they make their men gaga. This author pulled out all my universal fantasies and stuck them in a book: tending to an injured hero, spunky heroine, loyal dog, power dynamics, alpha who goes off the reservation for his woman - the list is endless.
Can't wait to read book 2!
