Four fantastic new short stories that take place in the Psy-Changeling world by the fantastic Nalini Singh.
Echo of Silence – The gives us a look at the workings of an undersea station and a really sweet and endearing love story between a Psy tk and a human engineer that culminates amidst the tragedy of an earthquake.
Dorian – Dorian has long been one of my favorite characters and while we know what happened to him this story fills out how he felt dealing with it all.
Partners in Persuasion – Several Psy-Changeling stories have dealt with the problems of dominant / submissive personalities and each is as different as the characters themselves. In this story we have a submissive male who has been burnt by love with a dominant female and it has affected his relationships to this point. But now there is a dominant cat that has his wolf sitting up and howling. Can he put his heart on the line one more time?
Flirtation of Fate – My favorite of the four as we have watched the flirtation and give and take between Kenji and Garnet through several books. In this story we find out why things are the way they are between them and see if they can resolve their issues all while solving a locked door murder mystery.
This book is a prime example of why Nalini Singh is an auto-buy author for me.

I like that Nalini Singh shares the novellas in book form. I also like that we get to see the stories of more minor characters. Each one is unique and sweet, reminding me why I love the series in full.

I can’t decide which is my favorite! Felix and Dezi’s stories was at the top of my list. Though, I did like seeing a young Dorian and seeing his background and present meet up. Oh. And we cannot forget about Kenji and Garnet! There’s was just…. Perfect and sweet and…. All in all, I really enjoyed this book and am eager to get back into the series!

Amazing

As with all things Psy/Changeling, the only thing bad about it was that it ended. I was most anxious for Echo of Silence, since there have been hints about Stefan in at least a couple good the books, and I wanted to learn more about this mysterious Psy that was an honorary Arrow. I've learned much about him, but would still love to know more about him and his underwater domain, Alarias.

I thought I might skip Dorian, because really, what more could I learn about him? I'm very glad I didn't skip this novella because it tells so much more about Dorian's struggle as a latent and his joy when Ashaya helps him break his cat out of its prison.

I wasn't sure about Partners in Persuasion going into it, because I couldn't remember who Felix or Desiree were. That was quickly spelled out in the first chapter; Felix being the head horticultaralist for the SnowDancers, in charge of replanting the trees where the battle with PurePsy happened, and Desiree is a senior solider in DarkRiver, who is on her way to becoming a Sentinel. I was very familiar with both once I thought about it. And the dance that Dezi, a dominant female leopard, starts with Felix, a submissive male wolf, is very different than any that have been highlighted during the series. Definitely glad I gave it a chance!!

The last story, Flirtation of Fate, was one that I'd planned to read, even if I had skipped Dorian and Partners in Persuasion. Flirtation is about two SnowDancer lieutenants, Garnet, or Jen, and Kenji. We've only ever seen them during comm meetings with Hawke and usually the other lieutenants, and at Hawke and Sienna's mating celebration. Their backstory goes to when they were children, when she was just the little sister to his best friend. Flirtation starts with Kenji coming to Garnet's den as part of a several day meeting to go over security protocols with the two of them and two lieutenants from the home den. The other two are held up by a car accident and the weather, but in the mean time, Kenji and Garnet have to solve a murder. The added mystery of the murder made this story even more enjoyable than I expected it to be.

All in all, a must read if you want some added depth to the Psy/Changeling world. I love all the side stories that Ms Singh offers in this series, from the novellas and short stories to all the many, many free shorts that she offers on her website. She seems to not only love her craft but her fans also!

I received an e-ARC copy of Wild Embrace from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a collection of stories from the Psy-Changling series and it was wonderful.

Echo of Silence
5 stars
Tazia Nerif is a human engineer assigned to a deep-sea station and Stefan is her Tk-Psy station commander. He makes her nervous, if only in the way attraction does. But Stefan is silent and Tazia knows that it couldn’t work between then but…

Stefan has been getting mentioned since Caressed by Ice and he got a big mention in Allegiance of Honor, but I was so excited for his story. I actually really really enjoyed this. Tazia is an interesting character. Stephen is silent but is trying to figure out how to maybe not be. I really felt the quite love that the Stephen and Tazia have. It’s simple and sweet and I really really loved it.

Dorian
4 stars
This was glimpse of Dorian at different ages before [b:Hostage to Pleasure|3115070|Hostage to Pleasure (Psy-Changeling, #5)|Nalini Singh|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1400085485l/3115070._SY75_.jpg|3146356] and after. This felt like a more complete epilogue to that book. My favorite parts were the before, when Dorian was young and trying to find his feet.

Partners in Persuasion
4 Stars
I really really liked Felix. I wanted to know more about him and his past. Dezi was okay. The dominance thing was interesting but I just wasn’t loving Dezi.

Flirtation of Fate
4.5 stars
I have been waiting for Kenji’s story almost as long as Stephen’s. This was really good. Garnet is awesome. I have to admit I was almost more interested in the mystery part of the story than the romance. I do wish that Kenji had been more active his pursuit of Garnet but it all worked out in the end. I do want to know how things work out for them in the future.

It was a great anthology. For fans of the Psy-Changling series it’s a don’t miss.

Did I read this because I was 3 books out on my Reading challenge with 9 days to go? You bet.

Was it the good ol’ uncomplicated fun? Yeah, it kinda was. Just what the doctor ordered for hiding away during the pre-Christmas Christmas Crazy TM.
