I enjoyed this book. I really liked the first book in this duology, Heart of Iron, but this one was not quite as good in my opinion. It was still a good read, and I loved getting to spend more time with the characters I loved from the first book. It is worthwhile if you really liked the first book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

Wowza I FLEW through this book at the speed of light... ha get it? Back on my space puns friends and I'm not stopping.

This sequel and I truly had an asteroid blast of a time and I would love to keep flying on a skysailer in this spacey world! Seriously, I read this chunky book in like 3 days and I love this for me.

I actually don't have all that much to say about this sequel. It withheld everything I loved about book 1 plus some higher stakes and more angst and you've got yourself a spit-spot duology finale. Seriously bummed there aren't more books *screams into eternity*

The writing was wonderful, descriptive and gut-wrenching and so easy to follow. Bar a few editing errors which I noticed in in the first book so oops. But I loved it nonetheless. The pacing kicked up a notch since I whizzed through this book and we really had a joy of a time.

I also loved how the Anastasia retelling was still sprinkled in here and there. Since this is a sequel and there is no Anastasia 2, the book doesn't have a core text to work with, but the author made it wholly unique whilst still using elements from its original and I loved it. I genuinely thought it was an excellent retelling and I'm still mad at all of you who say otherwise!

The characters are just!! ugh my faves I love them to pieces. Siege and Talle are just absolute queens and we love two moms. I loved the new characters also, which can be hard but they were a great addition to the cast. I was LOVING Robb and Jax in this book, omg they are so adorable and I was FEELING THINGS FOR THESE GAYS!!! Di's story was a lot but the author did a stunning job with mu precious child. Love a friends to lovers *cries in mechanics*. Ana is my absolute babe and I will protect her at all costs!!!! Ms Poston is a master at adorable romance and I still have hearts in my eyes btw

Did I mention I'm sad there's no third book? BECAUSE I WANT MORE!!!Let's start a petition for another book, seriously *cries*

The ending was a lot and my heart was beating extremely fast. I WANT AN EPILOGUE. Okay I'll stop now. But there really were some great twists and she had me there for a second. I can't think of a more perfect ending and I had the bestest time in this robot space world.

In conclusion, if you're looking for a series with rogue royals, glorious romance and galactic adventures, this duology is for you. It ticks every Anastasia-Star-Wars-loving fan's heart and I had the best time! I could not have asked for a better sci-fi series to fall in love with and you need to read it so we can swoon together please and thanks <3<3<3

Somehow this book managed to be worse than I expected? And weirdly riddled with typos and missing words!

At least it’s over now.

Soul of Stars is a great addition and ending to Heart of Iron!

The intense action scenes continued in a fantastical, science fiction setting, featuring a diverse cast with some romance.

The story does continue to be told in multiple perspectives.

The stakes couldn't be higher in Soul of Stars, and the ultimate battle does take place!

'Star Crossed Lovers' was a very prominent theme, and done well.

I felt the ending was tied up in a nice little bow.

Overall, I felt Soul of Stars was very well written and a great read.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved Robb and Siege the most! I feel like these two had the best development and reveals in this book. I did enjoy getting to learn more about Di’s past. I generally found this book super interesting and although I didn’t love the ending it left some interesting questions and possibilities.

He pushed a lock of his silver hair out of his face and kissed the tears off his cheeks. "A've nan amar, ma'alor."

WOW I loved this books so, so much.
This was just a really good romance/sci-fi duology, it had a few tropes, and felt iffy at times, but I really enjoyed Ashley Poston's writing and can see her getting really far in her future books.

There were some scenes in this book that just made me reread in awe. Some of the lines are just so beautiful, the emotions were expressed so well, even within characters who weren't even human, and I found myself really loving each of the characters I read about.
Ugh, now I'm going to miss Jax, Robb, Ana and Di, but I'll always remember them <3

Site note: The acknowledgments made me cry. Here's a direct quote "Sometimes the world sucks, and people suck, and life sucks, but with a few good friends, you are never truly alone. You will never be alone."

I loved this book, but honestly I'm a bit disappointed. This book has a lot of the same problems the first had but a bit worse. The first is the predictability. Heart of Iron at least had an excuse for this, as it was a retelling. But while this is technically still a retelling, the plot to this book had no similarities to the movie, while the first book was at least loosely following similar events. As someone who has a track record for not being able to guess, even obvious, plot twists a lot of the time, I was able to guess a lot of major events and pretty much all of the plot twists. Despite this however I still was able to find a lot of enjoyment while reading so kudos to that. Another criticism I had was how confusing it was at certain moments. I feel like sometimes that was on purpose, and generally, if done right confusing your readers can be a good way to bring more surprise and suspense to the book. This is really hard to get right however and unfortunately it just did not work here. Instead of wanting to continue reading to find out what was going on, more often than not, I just wanted to stop reading. Despite everything however I still ended up giving this 4 stars. Why? Because I loved certain elements more than I disliked others. For every fault this book had that made me what to stop reading, there were so many more that made it so I could barely put the book down. The biggest thing I loved about this book were the relationships and how beautifully they were done. I found it a little too corny at times but truthfully I loved it even more for that. The platonic, familial, and romantic relationships were all given time and were all really well done. This book has a found family trope, and a really sweet and well done one at that. Ana and Robb were basically siblings and it came through in every single interaction they had. This book also has a lot of good representation that is done really well.
I was kind of worried there would be some 'bury your gays' action here but thank god I was wrong
. All in all this was a really good book that I would recommend a hundred times over and will probably think about for a while, but that I will probably never reread

Tropes:
-Childhood Friends to Lovers to Enemies to Lovers
-Enemies to Lovers
-Memory Loss
-Human x AI
-Found Family
-Multiple POV's
-Retelling
-Forbidden Romance
-Royalty

Representation:
-POC Main Characters
-POC Side/Background Characters
-Main Interracial Couple (BWWM)
-Main MLM Couple
-Side Sapphic Couple
-Background Sapphic Couple (they only really appear at the very end for like two lines)
-Non-Binary Background Character
-Amputee Main Character
