That was so bad I had to force myself to finish cuz I was truly hoping it would get better. I was gravely mistaken 😒 This needs a good amount of editing, there are so many full chapters that weren’t needed or were just thrown in randomly. I also didn’t like any of the characters in the sense that I didn’t necessarily care about what was happening with them because it just kept repeating itself. The character development literally doesn’t happen until the end of act 3
. The romance was meh. I didn’t understand the reason for being enemies to lovers it just made no logical sense but she was basically raised in a cult so
 

For the people who keep saying that “if you liked sinners you’ll like this” STOP LYING THESE ARE NOWHERE NEAR THE SAME

i wanted to love this sooo bad. it had all the elements of a book i’d love but the execution just wasn’t there. i liked the world building but all of the characters felt two dimensional, especially the supporting characters. there was no real gray area for anyone - they were all either good or bad or flip flopping between the two without any nuance or real logic. i was especially disappointed with elise’s parents and sterling. i don’t see myself reading the sequel to this :(

super angsty, but ngl i was very confused by the end- a lot of elements working together at the same time with little explanation and information. either way i enjoyed it and i'm curious to see what the second book has to offer
