This captivating, heart-wrenching, Black lesbian vampire story, set in a fictional 1920s Harlem, is perfect for fans of a paranormal friends-to-enemies-to-lovers trope featuring forbidden romance. Highly recommend!

kinda really wish this was a standalone i feel like it would’ve been an easy 4-5 stars for me but
having elsie character assassinate herself at the end by killing valeriya was so ooc it felt like drama to make another book
.  loved most of the book but the ending really took me out of it

It was quick to read, and I could’ve finished it, but it wouldn’t have been more than 3.25✨’s max, and I have so many other books I could be reading and enjoying more.

It wasn't that bad but I was bored and found that I had to force myself to listen. I think part of it might have been the narrator/audio editing. There weren't proper gaps between scene shifts and the characters just all felt flat. Also didn't feel/sound like 1920s, I had to keep reminding myself of the setting.
