As a therapy user, I always wondered what 'the work' entailed. The modality Ive been most familiar with is is psychoanalysis. So, I've really only been doing talk therapy with my therapist. Usually there's no formal 'work' to speak of. That's why I find this book so great! The author provides an amazing guide with specific things the reader can do at the end of each chapter. That definitely is my favorite part of this book! I wish they just had a workbook that accompanied it or something.

Not sure what's happening with the other reviews. There must be some controversy over something outside of the content of this book.

I think this is a good introduction for someone interested in understanding themselves and others a bit better. One of those books you can reference and keep on your shelf.
