Fun fact: this is the very first Rebus I ever read, way back in the day. Given how close it is to the initial end of the series, how developed the characters are, how divergent Rebus and Siobhan are, and how pruney Cafferty is, I'm surprised I didn't run away at the time.
This is good, overtly political, Rebus, with one of those endings that ties things up without being too neat about it. It must be nice to have a job where you never actually have to be at your desk, ever.

Another fantastic effort by Ian Rankin in th4 Inspector Rebus series.
With immigration issues at the forefront, the Edinburgh inspector works to solve one murder, while another murder as well as a few other odd incidents take up his time and that of co-worker Siobahn Clarke and other Edinburgh authorities.
The term "fleshmarket" takes on multiple meanings in this novel rife with unearthed skeletons, trips to pubs and strip clubs, and investigations of fraud, sexual assault, and other shenanigans.
Well told, hard to put down.

I'm a fan of Ian Rankin and I love how he manages to mingle murder with humour, however it took me a while to get into this one. The pacing was brilliant, but the actual crime, the murder seemed to take a back seat in favour of other crimes. A good book, but not his best.
