Trigger warnings: death, severe injury, hospitalization, alcohol abuse

I've been a fan of Laura Silverman since her debut, but I have kind of fallen off her radar with her new books. However, I saw on Twitter that this one was coming out this year so I jumped on it! This book reminded me why I loved her books! Her writing style is simple but so honest. It always helps me to connect with her characters so intimately. However, I was a little frustrated with the main character Hannah in this one. I understood what she had gone through and why she had such a apocalyptic attitude, but I wanted her to get it together faster haha. When I reached the end though, I understood why the story developed the way it did. I really enjoyed the side characters and the romance. It was sweet and slow and cute! I'm really glad I've gotten back into this author's work.

This is a charming summer romance filled with warmth and nostalgia. "Those Summer Nights" by Laura Silverman offers a charming and realistic journey into the complexities of a passion for sports, loss of family and trying to start a new life.

Through Hannah’s perspective, we learn through alternating timelines how she was once a passionate soccer player with great friends and a strong relationship with her grandmother. After losing her, and parts of herself, she finds herself in trouble which leads her to rehab.

Following presently how Hannah aims to redeem herself and make amends, is both so inspiring and comforting. Change is possible, there is a life outside of what you had once dreamed and romance is for everyone. It was a really wholesome read.

I would like to add that I found the title rather misleading. I had the impression there would be some reference to the musical *Grease*, at least, considering the song *Summer Nights*.

Favourite quote: “I think we all get one person on this earth who truly understands us, one person who sees us fully as we are, our deepest dreams and greatest fears in plain sight.”

A fun brother's best friend YA summer romance that takes place at an amusement park. I really enjoyed how the female main character was trying to recover/comes to terms after a life changing injury suddenly ended her soccer playing abilities. Aside from the love triangle story line there was also a good second chance best friendship plot which I also liked a lot. Good on audio too.

17 year old Hannah Klein is back home for the Summer.

With a new job, a potential for a new boyfriend and a to-do list to tick off to ensure she doesn't have to go back to boarding school when Summer is over, can she find some time to repair relationships and find out what really makes her happy?

I was dubious about this at first, the first 3 chapters do not make Hannah seem at all relatable or worthy of empathy, but the storyline picks up as some secrets are revealed and Hannah's back story is filled in. Cute and sunny, I secretly want to work at Bonanza next Summer!

A good story that took me a while to get through and connect to the characters, but I also loved loved so many parts of it. Will still recommend to others.
