War and Rose dated in the past and are brought together by a serial killer chasing after Rose. Their breakup was hard on both of them, but the soon realized that someone manipulated them into breaking up. They made a good team investigating the murders and their steamy scenes were great.

I usually don't read a ton of Second Chance romance books since they can be quite angsty, but I really enjoyed No Escape From War.
Rose and War were an amazing couple, and I couldn't help but root for their HEA. They had to bring a serial killer down, and clear up the misunderstanding that drove them apart. This would usually be frustrating to me, but the book started off with them already having broken up, so them winding up together again was lots of fun!
For a killer being on the loose, this book was surprisingly light-hearted, and it gave room for some pretty interesting characters. When Cynthia Eden's heroes fall, they fall hard. I loved that when War found out the reason for their breakup, he didn't waste time and he really worked hard to get Rose back. And while Rose made him work for it at first, I'm glad she didn't keep pushing him away either. It was such a refreshing balance.
I wasn't expecting to love this book, I'm glad I stumbled across it on Bookbub. It was a little short, but I'm glad I gave it a try. On to the next book. :D

No, but they'd already broken up at the start of the book so it was all about them getting back together. :)
For a romantic suspense book, this was really fun to read. War is the broody, jealous and protective kind of hero. He was hurt and broke up with Rose when he thought she had betrayed him but despite that, he couldn't stand the thought of her being in danger. I enjoyed his pursuit of her when he realized he was wrong. It was entertaining to watch him convince her to give him a second try all while trying to hunt down the killer. I had no idea who the killer was until the end. I find that Cynthia Eden does a really good job of keeping you guessing. I look forward to Odin's book next!
Warren is a PI, hired by a TV producer to find Rose, his reporter who’s disappeared. But for War it’s a chance to track down his ex and have her taken to the cops, while making money doing it.
When he finds Rose, she explains that she’s going after a serial killer who has her as his next target, and that changes the game for War entirely.
Together, they figure out that the photos he was sent that broke them up were taken by a sleazy PI, and that Rose’s producer hired him.
It looks bad for the producer, who gets what he deserves, and the killer is eventually brought in too. Meanwhile, once War and Rose clear the air, they agree to a second chance, are more honest and trusting of each other, and that makes all the difference.
Great book, adventure with the two main characters tracking down the killer, and great chemistry between them, fighting or making out.

This is a gripping and romantic page-turner that will captivate fans of fast-paced, action-packed stories with a strong, feisty heroine and a rugged, former military hero, perfect for readers who crave a second chance romance, suspense, and a dash of humor.
So so
Rose is on the run from a killer who set her up to take the fall for him....that is until he kills her. War is hired to hunt down Rose--who happens to be his ex--and turn her into the cops. He's absolutely delighted, until he unravels the truth of what's truly going on.
I actually really liked that War and Rose had a bit of a previous history with each other that didn't happen in the book. I felt like it lended a bit more credibility to their existing feelings for each other. Although I feel like the relationship development was still pretty lacking in the book which is why I scored it so low. The stalking, killing, and sleuthing was pretty interesting and I would not have guessed who the killer was, so that was super fun. This book was a quick and mildly entertaining read overall.

A journalist and PI on the hunt for a killer while old feelings resurface. Rose is smart and tenacious and War is stubborn and broody. A huge misunderstanding caused their break-up so this reunion resulted in some antagonism and taunting banter that eventually sparks the fire back to life. The mistrust at the start was rough but I liked that things are cleared up in good time (and not kept for the 80% conflict). War puts so much effort in pursuing Rose again, and Rose makes him work for it.
I liked seeing Rose being super capable, and War being all possessive protective regardless. And once they realise their feelings, there’s minimal push and pull. Their romance is pretty steamy, with some sweet moments, and War really redeemed himself for me. The suspense is good but the villain wasn't hard to guess. The book also lacked Eden's signature twist.
