Well shits and bubbles,
I devoured the first two books.. I loved the story the plot drops and just the wow factor is gave…
The third book did me DIRTY.
I was EXTREMELY excited to see where this story went. But 34 hours later(I listened to the audiobook), I am so sad and disappointed.
The “sexual tension” was not really tension.
It was just banter and it go old by 50%.
Diem got very annoying at 45%.
Over and over and OVER AGAIN…. The same shit… let me be annoying take a risk.. oh no now I’m in trouble. “How will I EVER GET OUT OF THIS SITUATION I PURPOSELY PUT MYSELF IN.”
Oh no the mortals! Oh not the descendants!
Oh no this and oh no that.
Over and over again.
The ending wasn’t really a surprised.
I’m sure the fourth book will be dragged out also… sigh. I will finish the series but this one was encouraging a book reading slump.

DID NOT FINISH

I just cannot stand Diem, it kind of ruined the whole book for me. But just my personal opinion.

The amount of gaslighting in this book is actually insane.

I love this series and like the main characters quite a bit, but I really struggled with the first half of this book, hence the lower rating. The tension was too much of the story, it needed more balance between plot/action/romance/character growth. The second half was great. I look forward to reading the fourth book.

I struggled with Diem’s growth  in this book. I know she is in denial generally and doesn’t trust herself, but she’s not dumb—she felt real dumb here. It’s like she got younger as the series progressed, but inconsistently.  For example, it was not credible that she missed something as obvious as Taran’s sexuality, yet somehow understands Luther’s every motivation (sometimes). I get she’s supposed to be cracking under the pressure, but her obtuseness seemed really drawn out.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME WITH THAT CLIFFHANGER????

This is one of the longest book I have ever read.. over a thousand pages, but I loved every second of it!!

This series will forever be my Roman Empire and I quite literally cannot wait for the final book.

I also saw Penn Cole confirm that there's a significant death in the next book and I truly not prepared.

There were a few aspects of the book that pissed me off regarding some of the decisions Diem made, but I love when books make me feel all the emotions, so l'm letting it go for now, but Diem I swear if Vance doesn't die in the next book, I'm crawling into the book myself and doing it.
