Gorgeous prose, with some banger twists, but overall slow and bulky for my liking. I enjoyed the beginning, the middle was a whole lot of nothing, the ending was all over the place and confusing. Too many plotlines but doesn’t fully focus on any of them for long enough for me to care. Finishing the book felt like a relief.

Still amazing on the 3rd read through, of course. And I love Boris with everything I have.

I started reading this book because of the movie, I absolutely fell in love with the movie and I also did with the book, I've cried to the book many times but it's so good, Boris is my favorite character out of them all.

I started reading an e-book version, and I don’t think it’s processing well. Will definitely restart with a PDF or physical copy.

Definitely a fatiguing book but the kind of book you’d want to teach or take a class on. So much going on in here! People I rooted for despite myself, the goldfinch as an emblem, the psychological triggers for the choices made compulsively, the life of the painting and the parallels to the soul of the protagonist, ask the people we meet by chance and what that really means, etc. Long book worth every minute and every page.

donna tartt has done it again. one of the most hautingly beautiful books ive ever read. cannot reccommed enough, coming-of-age book about friendship, grief, love and loss. also as an art nerd i found it brilliant. (the ending made me sob)
