3.21 AVERAGE

1.5 rounded up. Stupid, not even interesting or suspenseful mystery trash

Despite an intriguing cover and a promising blurb, ultimately fell short of expectations. The novel follows Jade, a woman who, after a lucky scratch card win, embarks on a Spanish adventure.
However, the journey quickly descends into a series of unfortunate events, largely due to Jade's own frustratingly poor decision-making and an irritating personality. The narrative unfolds at a glacial pace, with predictable twists and turns that leave the reader yearning for Jade to learn from her mistakes and exhibit some semblance of growth.
Unfortunately, the novel fails to deliver a compelling or engaging reading experience.

I really enjoyed this book. A fairly quick-read that kept me wondering who was fooling who. I like the settings, the characters, the pace of the book and the overall story. Highly recommend if you're looking for a psychological thriller that is a quick, fast pace and suspenseful.

Initially I thought I was going to hate this book. The protagonist, Jade, makes really stupid decisions and also just isn't a well fleshed out character. Even by the end of the book all we know about her is that she's pretending to have more money than she really does and she's basically an alcoholic. I thought it did pick up once we see things from Marta's POV and the ending was satisfying, but Jade really isn't likeable at all.
