The story
Malia looks after ad sales at Quench, a women’s lifestyle media business. She’s looking forward to letting her most difficult client Palmer know that she is moving across to their foundation. Secretly the chemistry is there for both of them, but Malia needs to focus on her fertility journey and now is not the time to get involved with someone who doesn’t want a family one day.

My thoughts
This is the second book in this series, but it works well to read as a standalone. There is a lot of tension between Palmer and Malia, and he is a strong character, used to getting his own (billionaire) way. I think Malia needs someone that is willing to keep showing up for her, even when the going gets tough. I enjoyed the dual POV, and I especially like the male main character that shows his understanding of women, bakes cakes in his spare time and loves books

I appreciated how short this story was because it really wasn’t for me. I liked the characters from the first book in this series, but it is like they had a personality change in this book. I don’t know, it just felt forced / unnatural to me - the interactions between characters - the circumstances - the dialogue. I do like this author’s books, in general, but this one didn’t seem the same to me.

3.25/5 I guess?

I had high hopes for this book. A strong BB in charge of a business and takes no sh*t but unfortunately this main character is just as whiney and unbearable as the previous book. The rating, again, is for the rest of the story. This is a really sweet story and I did see a lot of myself in the main character and I did like how it wasnt shown as an easy relationship or happily ever after but I have no idea how this woman helps run a company when she can't listen to a thing anyone says to her

Quick & fun love story that had me smiling for Malia to find her Happily ever after. I liked how we got dual POV's from Malia & Palmer because it kept the story intriguing.

Thank you to Net Galley for the advanced copy of this book. This is the second book in this series and I enjoyed it as much as the first book. The second book is about Malia and she is an amazing character. While moving forward with her "life plan" she realizes that things are missing. That being said she is afraid of trying to capture what she wants most in life. Her nemesis Palmer also has some issues he is struggling to overcome. These two have a pull to each other from the start but struggle to accept their attraction. The way these two come together is a great read. The subplot in this book between Mike and Emma is also an extremely cute story. This book could be read as a stand alone however as always it is better to read the series in full and hopefully in order. This is a great read if you are looking for an entertaining romance book with lots of ups and downs, angst and attraction.

This is the book in the series that I was most interested in reading, but I am someone who needs to read a series in order so I did read the first one in the series prior. While I didn't care for the first book I was hopeful for this one, but ultimately it was not for me either. There were a few things that I did like about this book (fake dating is my favorite trope, I like a meddling family, and I did enjoy that Malia wanted to have a baby and was willing to do the things she needed to do to make that happen). I didn't really feel love between the MC, I could see that were they were attracted to each other, but not love at all. Palmer was okay, but not extortionary or memorable. Malia is a Black heroine, and I personally wish she wasn't for two reasons. The first is that the representation was basically non existent, and what was there was just bad and also because since reading this book and looking at reviews the most common thing is how much people don't like her because she is "stubborn, rude and unlikable". Now I can see where  some of those things might be true BUT so is Chiara from the first book and that no one mentions that, and IMO that makes Malia come off as very 'angry Black woman" and I hate that. I say it all the time but all representation isn't good representation, and this was just not good. Just like all of the other books I've read by this author, there is also random comments about weight gain/ talks about being scared to be fat or looking fat.  Maybe I am sensitive to it because I am a plus size reader, but it always just throws me off because it's literally out of nowhere. Anyway I will finish this series out because I am a series finisher, but ultimately I think my time with this author is done.
