Mafia on dope

The best mafia romance ever! I loved the humour in this story, a fantastical mix of reality against bizarre to the extreme. I grew more in love with these characters every step of the way and was sorry to see the end of them (but also relieved that I didn’t need to wait for the next instalment to complete their journey). Thank you for another amazing escape from reality.

A mafia why choose where one is the mafia boss, the second has the emotional range of a spoon, and the third is so unhinged he refers to dead bodies as his friends…

I loved every second of it and jumping right to book two…

I honestly want to give this book way more than 5 stars, and I don't think I will be able to format the right words for how much I loved this book. I have read everything from this awesome author, and this is one of my most favorite books of 2021, probably one of my favorites of the decade. I normally don't like mafia type books, but the way Coralee June writes, it's just I don't know, but it's real, it's tangible, these are characters that I know.
The chemistry between characters is off the charts, and honestly the author could have made this into a duet or a trilogy, there were lots of questions I never got the answer to. The is the world of the world class mobster, and boy is it intense. I felt this book in my bones, I didn't sleep, but I did have to work (boooooo) but I have lost so much sleep because of this book. Told in first person pov.

Okay, this book was fucked up! It’s a dark mafia romance and while I have no problem reading about violence a few things about this book really made me go “?!”

TW for domestic abuse (once, not to heroine); fetishes mentioned that describe animal abuse (not described); urination out of fear; on page murder; past torture and assault described; and a torture killing involving a curling iron and a… rectum.

I think the premise of this is really cool. A poor girl with a fascination of murder (and a podcast about murderers) is best friends with a mafia princess. But one day the mafia princesses brothers find out and all hell breaks loose. Think Stockholm Syndrome slash blackmailing the heroine, Juliet, into working for them.

I love a dark and twisted hero but none of the guys really stepped up to the plate for me. Anthony came closest. He was kidnapped and tortured a year or two ago and has permanent damage done to his psyche because of it. But let me compare this to Den of Vipers, which has a psychotic hero as well (Diesel) - Diesel’s issues are addressed and it’s shown how Roxy helps him cope. He wants to torture and hurt people, he has psychotic episodes where he hallucinates fire. She revels in his pain/sadism and pulls him back from his episodes like an anchor. None of that was discussed in this book. It was kind of like, “ok, Anthony is broken, but Juliet likes it.” But how will she help him heal? Does she help him heal at all? Why can he touch her but no one else? I don’t think we got enough info about his past and his trauma, and the fact that he had a “show” at the club
Spoilerwhere women sucked him off through a glory hole!?!? We literally saw it once and then it was never mentioned again.

Malice/Nicholas… I just don’t feel I know him. I didn’t understand how he jumped from thinking she was a rat > employing her > being in love with her. There wasn’t enough relationship/emotional build up for me to buy into that. I would’ve believed it more if they were just fucking.

And William… don’t get me started. I don’t even know him. After 3 years he put so much of his own projections onto Juliet that were not healthy or realistic at all.

The drama with Cora felt like a lot of nothing.
SpoilerThere was all this talk about her and then they didn’t even “deal with her” at the end.
I’m wondering if we’ll get more books in this series based on the four of them?

This book was dark, it’s taboo and definitely read those trigger warnings but it was delicious.
There are a few questions I feel I haven’t had answered but did see that the author recently announced a second book so I’m glad about that.
I have a real soft spot for those really complex damaged men and my god did I get that with all three of these guys especially Anthony.
Good quick read, gives you the mafia/gang fix with the sprinkle of RH. Good read and look forward to book 2

DNF but i feel like i deserve to rate it for the brain rot that it is

This book was wild. TW: rape, sexual assault, violence, a lot of blood, dead bodies. Okay characters are morally horrible. It is mafia book tho. But, the mood gives Gotham city. Idk just gloomy and dark. The beginning was engaging but toward the middle and end I feel like we could have got more on the details of the mafia. I like the main character but I don’t understand her decisions sometimes, like I feel like she’s a good person but at the same time no? I don’t like Nick. Period. Love Anthony. And William gets on my nerves. Also, I was a little mad that Vicky turned out how she did bc I really wanted that bond between her and Juliet. But overall First dark romance 5/5 would read this again for thrill of it all.

If there’s one piece of information I can give you, please be mindful of the trigger warnings and description of this book. This is dark, dirty, and not for the faint of heart.

I would burn the world to the ground before letting anything happen to you. I’d kill anyone, anything, that put you in danger.

Yes, this is a mafia story, with a character who studied true crime, but I realized, during a scene that involved a curling iron, that no detail would be spared in this book. My standards for mafia romances and reverse harems are so hgh after finishing Malice. And the fact that this book has both?! I could not be happier. I can not even express how happy I am that this ended up being a slow burn. It was slower than I ever thought was possible, and it was blissful. Obviously we knew Malice would be the head of the bunch, but the fact that we were left questioning the dynamic between everyone was part of the fun! Chapter three had me grinning way more than it should have, and I was hooked! “Nicholas will coach you.” Malice definitely guided Juliet. Through life, through struggle, through pain, through the dangers that were unavoidable in their lives. She may have been his Little Fighter, but she fought because he made sure of it. “William will save you.” Will protected Juliet. He was her stranger. The man who kept all her secrets. Even if it all meant that he couldn’t have her. And he respected her beyond all else. “Anthony will just accept you where you are.” Anthony wanted all the pain, the struggle, the dark, the damage. It was her, it was real. And he thought it was beautiful. His dirty Killer, but most importantly, his soulmate. The brothers made sure that Juliet not only knew her worth, but that she loved it all. In some ridiculous twisted way, Malice and Juliet are like a totally screwed up version of Bonnie and Clyde.

My Favorite Quotes:
•”You’re lucky that I have better plans for your tongue.”
•”I may keep you.”
•”I play with my toys until they break. And then, I play with them harder.”
•”I think you could be Eve herself.”
•”I can’t control myself when I’m with you.”
•”I’ll let them have the dirty, damaged pieces of your soul, but I get your heart.”
•”Nothing will ever happen to you. Ever.”
•”Keep going, Little Fighter. Show me how strong you are.”
•”I’m untouchable. Invincible. Ask me why?”
•”You’re mine, Killer.”
•”The fact that you think I wouldn’t burn down every inch of this city to save you is ridiculous.”
•”Don’t stop looking at me.”
•”Every thought in her beautiful mind is mine.”
