I’m not disappointed

This was a great read. I loved the very minute of it. Would give it 5 stars but the end felt very rushed. So rushed that I thought parts were dreams.

Also, I hate Vicky.

Fast Read

It opened quick and fast. It was a rollercoaster ride. I love this book. There are triggers. Read with caution.

This one fell short for me, and I’m not sure if it is because I had it hyped up in my own head or not but it just lost steam.

I was really loving the first chunk of the book. The characters, particularly Malice and Anthony were intriguing. Their characters drew me in and I understood the attraction of Juliet to them and even William at the beginning. William, though, fell flat for me as the story went on. I understand that these men appealed to a part of her, but he just came across as too weak, especially for a high ranking mafia official.

I feel like that was ultimately the problem. Three mafia men sharing, all brothers. Anthony made sense for his background, but William never did and the boundaries set up for the RH group just didn’t feel right to me. Now, I’m not an RH expert, but the ones I’ve read had natural flow and boundaries and they were a group and unit who need each other to survive. This wasn’t that. I honestly would have loved this book more if it was just Anthony and Malice or devoured it from cover to cover if it was just Malice. The dynamics of the group were just off for me, ultimately.

There was also a considerable lack of steam and violence for me. With a RH and dark romance book, I expected more. It was pretty low steam all around. Malice & Juliet had the best moments. The dark part was pretty low for me too. It all was quick shots of steam and violence, over too fast and not enough. It had mafia level violence, not dark romance violence.

The plot was not super developed for the length of story. It needed a lot more details and more development overall. I loved the plot and the pieces that were present. I thought it had great potential, danger, revenge plots, and more. Because there needed to be established relationships with all the couples and the plot and the heroine’s background, it all just felt surface level.

I’m really sad about this one. It had such great potential. I didn’t hate it. I really loved parts of it and was enthralled by two of the three heroes and even Juliet as she came to terms with the darkness inside of her. It just ultimately fell short of my expectations.

Will I read this author again? Absolutely.

Woah

Okay so wow.

I gotta say I don't like Vicki. You could see how self centered she was from the beginning. I can't believe she did that though and with a none explanation explanation.

I love the guys. They're all unique but fit Juliet perfectly.

I can't wait to see what happens next.

Juliet had a normal life working at a diner with a best friend she saw on a semi-regular basis and a grandmother she loved to death. But her best friend of three years had secrets and while Juliet was fine letting her keep her secrets until her best friend's mob boss brother shows up at the diner she works at and calls Juliet out as a rat. Faced with the prospect of being tortured and killed by Nicholas Civella Juliet must harness her inner psychopath. Once Nick realizes Juliet has nothing to do with his organization outside of befriending his sister, he and his two other brothers start integrating her into their family. She is to be the fly on the wall that they need to sniff out their actual rat. Meanwhile she gets to know the brothers and how damaged each of them are.

Anthony was captured, tortured, and assaulted to the point where he is more comfortable with the dead than the living. He is a special kind of psychopath but she finds a kindred spirit within him. He was a sweet and beautiful soul inside a killer's body.

William has been listening and learning about her for the past three years as her best friend's bodyguard. He has an obsession with Juliet that borders on a tragic poem. He is romantic and willing to do anything for Juliet that she asked. But he has a hard time standing up to her older brother. In his words, Nick is the heir, William is the spare, and he lives his life exactly like that.

Nick is cruel, quick to anger, and psychotic in the worst way. He has the ability to shut himself off from his feelings. He is the least redeemable of the three men in my opinion. He is domineering and controlling to the point of being a monster.

I feel if the book had been written with a bit less of Nick and a bit more of Anthony or William it would have been a highly regarded book for me. Nick wasn't just domineering and controlling, he was abusive. His tantrums reminded me that of a child. He's so willing to burn everything down to get what he wants without any thought to the consequences of his actions. He was what spoiled the book for me. Juliet is a psycho disguised as a nice girl. There is a darkness in her I kept waiting to see come out completely but it just trickled out around the seams and never fully developed. I hope that in the next books she is a bit more fleshed out.

And as always, I always have at least one favorite in a harem. Anthony is it. I found him so delightfully quirky that, much like Juliet, I was able to overlook his clear mental issues. But I know that those issues aren't so quickly fixed.

All in all, the book was middle of the road for me. It would have rated higher if there was even an ounce of humanity to Nick's character.

I really likes that this RH wasn't perfect and that William struggled. Lots of RH are instantly okay with this concept of sharing a life partner and it was a nice difference. I felt like Nick ended up being the "head husband" so to speak (like the Head Wife of a polygamist). Loved that little bit.

Side note: Anthony was my favorite.
