This was a great graphic novel memoir that will make you both laugh, cry, and empathize with Robin and get to know her love for her mother and learn about their experiences living in Korea and then moving to America as immigrants. The illustrations are stunning and do a great job of conveying a range of emotions and experiences. Loved this book!

I loved the art style and enjoyed the story. I liked how Ha used color palette to indicate when she was returning to the past and how she wove her mother's story into her own. Overall, a very raw and emotional story.

An important and often heartbreaking story of immigration and struggling to fit in. The emotions were so potent that I sometimes found it difficult to read, but I found the hopeful ending to be a welcome relief. This is a great firsthand account of just how difficult it can be when coming to America, especially when you don't know English.
