I think I would've enjoyed it more when I was younger. More for ages 8-12. I still enjoyed it though. It had potential.

I will admit, it was a good book. I have no idea why, but I didn't like it too much. It had amazing details, but I didn't really get to know the characters too well until i was a good 150 pages in. Then, well I don't know. The plot was okay, not too exciting. Oh well, I suppose.

I actually really liked this book. I don't know if it is because I am a big fan of Neal Shusterman or if it is just a good book. I don't think I liked it enough to give it a 4 (because thats a pretty high honor) but its definitely close
My students read "Downsiders" for one of their book club choices and they say it is good but a little underwhelming and slow. I am not sure if this one would be the same for them as I did find it a little slow. Granted- I did read it over a span of like 4 months on audiobook. But I got back into it in the last couple weeks (we got a puppy and I am back into audiobooks to keep me entertained on our many walks) and really enjoyed it. I dont know that it was a book I was dying to finish though. But the story is inventive and really pretty cool.
I felt like it was also a good, moral dystopian novel. I love telling my kids about Neal's books but sometimes feel like they are a little much for my 7th graders. Now I am not one for censorship at all but I teach is a highly conservative community and sometimes I worry that Unwind will be too much for the families at this young of age. I feel like this is a great book to suggest to students to let them in on the amazingness of Neal Shusterman and then open the door for them to get into his other books.
I dont think I will read the rest of the series (or at least its not high on my list) but this will definitely make it into my book talk schedule!

I don't know what I was expecting, but this wasn't what I was expecting. It was good, the kids are in a sort of limbo, and I was really surprised and a bit disturbed that the twin towers were in limbo with them. It had a great ending, makes me want to read the next one.

I love the unique storyline of this book, kids getting trapped in an in between place after dying. There were a lot of fun elements and interesting plot twists that I didn't see coming. Definitely one worth reading and glad there's a second one so I can keep reading.
