What an interesting, well planned story. The author has a nice economy to his plot. If he doesn't need it, it isn't there. There were some things that I'd still like to explore in Everlost, but it was a satisfying, clean read. I'd recommend it for 10 and up.

I thought this book was really good! Not as good as Unwind, but I still really enjoyed it.
Also, when I was reading this book, I got into Grace Potter & The Nocturnals. The song "Ah Mary" is perfect for this book. Mary really pissed me off.

The plot itself is a bit interesting in that it is different. But it has very predictable characters. It seemed like the characters were the typical YA teens just with different names. Neal Shusterman can do better.

I don’t remember this book being so… Christian when I started it like 15 years ago. That’s not inherently a bad thing, I’m just surprised I don’t remember that particular, constant theme. This is a fun story and the plot is decent. I could’ve done without the absolute fascination with 9/11 and the twin towers (take a guess as to how that comes into play!), as well as the peppering in of microaggressions/outright racism towards Asians. Certainly a book of its time. Glad I got to satisfy my childhood curiosity about it, but also glad I didn’t bother to finish it as a kid who wouldn’t have been able to see its flaws.

 Allie and Nick died. The accident left no survivors, but the afterlife is still a ways off for these two lost children. Their souls are stranded in a limbo-esque realm between life and death where thought and meaning rule their reality. Nick and Allie must navigate their way through a strange, frightening land of spectres, dead kids and long destroyed monuments. Shusterman's story is often broken by philosophical asides that serve the larger narrative and pose great moral quandaries (as is Shusterman's style). 

I love this book and its sequels. It's been a while since I read them but they had a lasting impact on the way I think and behave. I regard it as one of the best trilogies I have ever had the pleasure of reading.

I've just started this book, since my daughter has to read it for school & neither of us is thrilled about it.. Through part one and so far it isn't awful. I'm hoping it stays that way!
And I've now stopped reading it.. Just couldn't finish this awful book...
