This book pulled me into its world and didn't release me until the very last page.  The world building is great without being overly descriptive.

I felt like the overall pacing was fast, but there is a chunk in the middle that was a bit slower.  I'm thankful for that chunk though because that's where I understood the characters as people more and I was drawn closer to them.  There were a lot of twists, some I saw coming, others I didn't.  I didn't find Feyre likeable throughout the whole book, but I could understand why she was the way she was and I eventually did like her.

I highly recommend ACOTAR especially to anyone that wants to venture into the fantasy genre.  I'm immediately starting the next book!

Keen to read the next book, but not sure I'd read it again

Annoying point of the plot:
The riddle was easy. Why did it take so long to solve? Ignore the riddle and just do the challenges OR make it s more difficult riddle. It was frustrating knowing that plot point was unresolved, no matter how the story kept continuing via the "trials."

Also not a fan of the Beauty and the Beast style Stockholm syndrome.

A lot of inconsistencies.
For example: Tam calls Feyre „You“, she things he can‘t remember her  name. A few sentence after he calls her Feyre, she don’t comment on it. A few sentence after he calls her Feyre again, and now she comments on ist that he know her name…. Yes, Girl, he die that a Minute ago also.
That small, bit wh hen there is stuff like this again and again it become really annoying.

4.25⭐️1🌶️(mostly closed door, very few sex scenes, several tension-filled scenes)
This had been on my TBR for 4 years and idk what took me so long. People either love or hate this book and this series in general and I liked it a lot! I will say the beginning 20% is pretty slow, it took me a couple weeks to get through that and then I read the last 80% in less than 24hrs. I read along with the graphic audiobook and that version shuffles some inner monologue and dialogue around to make conversations flow, so I’d suggest the regular audiobook first and the graphic audio for a reread. I really didn’t find the book spicy at all, I think this could be appropriate for YA readers, but I’ve heard the rest of the series is spicier. Another thing: why does everyone hate tamlin?? He’s a pretty decent guy and takes care of FMC and her family when he doesn’t need to. I can see the rhys hype, he’s the misunderstood villain bad boy who I predict will be an enemies to lovers in the future and his fan art is🥵. Some of the book is gory and graphic, I would classify this as a dark romantasy with plenty of fluff. I would definitely reread in the future and I’m looking forward to the rest of the series!

I love the world that exists in this book - looking forward to how it builds in the series! I found the characters interesting, charming and unique.

I feel like there was a level of detachment between some of the characters at times that didn’t work with how the relationships were portrayed in the book. More details and nuances would’ve been useful!

Overall - really nice read and I’m excited to come back to it after reading the rest of the series to see how my opinion changes.

SECOND READ
I stand by what I said on a first read about the detached relationships (particularly between Feyre and Tamlin). I appreciate the golden nuggets throughout that point to future books. Fun and comforting read in many ways. I am looking forward to rereading ACOMAF!

It’s okay but I don’t get the buzz. It was just so many awful things happening over and over. Didn’t really buy into the motivations of the FMC. Will keep going with the series but was very meh as a book to me

I had so much fun reading this. I didn’t want it to end, but was also dying to know what was going to happen. I love the world that is built in the book. I love the vibes of the spring court. The first part of the book felt cozy and happy and I wished I could be in the world with Feyre. The last 120 pages of the book were a wild ride. I am rooting for Feyre and Tamlin and hope no more outside forces come in between them. The writing was very descriptive and seemed to have a lot of similies/metaphors. I wished to see Feyre with a little more emotion. I connect with characters through their emotions. I plan to read the rest of the series and will get the next book soon. Such a gooooood book.

Update: 1/31/2024
I updated to 5 stars. I can’t stop thinking about this book and I smile every time I think about it. 5 stars, not 4.
