It is time for the big parade with tons of gorgeous lanterns! But what is this? Who is stealing things?

It is time for a new Kitty and I was just absolutely HYPED to find the English version at the library! This is a very rare event so I am still doing a very happy dance! Plus, George is not in the mix so I am even happier.

In this delightful and OMG, can I just jump into the book, story we see Kitty and her friends/classmates make gorgeous lanterns. From whales to kitties to butterflies, the kids are really letting their imagination go and I was looking forward to the parade! The parade itself was wonderful and gorgeous (especially helped by the orange/black colours). But the real excitement starts when things get stolen with the biggest item being the big shiny crown (which I would love to have won). Kitty is not happy and she is going to find the person who did it and I was totally in for it. Of course, we the reader know who the culprit is. Just look at the illustrations, read the hints. So I was waiting for Kitty to find out! I loved the chase over rooftops, through trees, and eventually to a big and high place.

The culprit? I wasn’t a fan of them. Not at all. I mean, I get you want some excitement in your life, but there are other ways than making people sad and hurt. Other ways than stealing. I am glad that Kitty took her time to explain and wasn’t deterred even after the culprit just acted bossy and as if Kitty was the fun killer. I am happy with Kitty’s solution in the end. Good job girl!

The ending just had me smiling so much. Not just because of the outcome of the parade, but also because of the sweet moments between mom and daughter.

The art is still fabulous!

All in all, bring on the next book! This was the cutest!

Yes! Another children's book but why not? The cover is beautiful! The whole book is gorgeously illustrated throughout. In the beginning it gives an introduction to the main character and the different cats within the story. It also has some facts about cats too.
Perfect for cat lovers. A 100 page read. This is book five in the Kitty series but reads fine as a Standalone. A brilliant children's book full of imagination and colour. It's about the festival of light but a thief is soon apparent and its kitty's job to find the thief and return the items to save the night.
Within is a message that stealing is not okay. That making people feel happier is better than people feeling bad. That even if you did something wrong you can still fix it and I believe all children need to know that. I am keeping this to pass on to my daughter so she can read it when she's a little older. Highly recommend! Four stars from me. Perfect reading material for ages 6-10.

I'm putting this here as a sort of placeholder for the first 6 books bc I think I liked this one best. Maybe the sky garden one. Anyway, these are sweet books for younger readers, and I really enjoy the simplicity of them on days when I just can't focus on long books or something adult and grimdark or even just when I'm having a bad day. Kitty is a lovely character to follow, and her cat crew always makes me smile. I especially appreciate how she doesn't make snap judgments about people or situations - she always leads with kindness until she finds the cause of the problem. As someone who is often quick to anger, I really respect her compassion and willingness to see the good in everyone. It's a nice message for kids, and a good reminder for adults = ) the illustrations are beautiful and I really love a limited color palette! Except for the colorful covers, it's all oranges with shades of black white and gray. Love love. I very much recommend this series if you like this sort of quick, sweet read for kiddos.

A very fun little book that highlights how much things mean to everyone. A cat-burglar which was an amazing sneak who didn't understand the effects of their behaviour on others. The reason for me that this is 5* is the fact that it was honestly aware that some animals really do not enjoy fireworks and would prefer to be indoors. I love that entirely as a firework hater myself!
