Loved this book, it was fun, wild, disgusting and downright horrific and vile at some points. My review will be a weak opinion, but I was saddened by the end. A perfect ending would be everyone surviving but it just does not work that way…definitely a must read, especially if you are a big fan of Nick Cutter like I am!!

I really enjoyed Cutter's The TroopThe Deep, unfortunately this one did not land for me.  We did get Cutter's style of gory body horror.  Unfortunately the characters felt flat, there was no growth or depth to make them interesting.  Also I was confused on the timeline jumping back and forth from 1965 to 1980 in the beginning.

The villain was also really one dimensional.  A crazy religious cult in the New Mexico forest should be a wild time to read about, but again it didn't work for me.

Really great thriller!

The more Nick Cutter I read the more I find I like about him. Such a different type of book compared to The Troop, but equally horrific and traumatizing. The gross prose, body horror, and animal torture are all just as present.

Where the books differ drastically are with the Characters. Completely different and dynamic cast that we watch grow through these tragedies.

The religious themes presented in this one were a bit on the nose, but still enjoyable because of their execution.
