Exactly what I needed. Q&A in the back with JMC and his wife was super helpful. He’s wise and kind when discussing really hard topics. I wish there was more perspective from his wife in the book because it’s a topic so engrained in relationships between both sexes.

John Mark Comer, although using information and perspectives that I have already been familiar with, presents the Christian idea of marriage in such a beautiful, challenging, and life giving way. He doesn’t simply talk about marriage but also about singleness right through to engagement, as well as discussing sex. One of my favourite parts was his discussion about sex exegeting a portion from Song of Songs, as it was done in a beautiful and relatable way. Highly recommend to any Christian who is dating and thinking of taking the next steps in their relationship, and to any Christian who struggles with the idea of marriage.

In the Bible it says this (Ephesians 4:15-16) "Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work."

That's how I feel about this book. That it is a beautiful work from someone striving to "speak Truth in Love". So often in our culture today we, Christians, are very good at speaking Truth, or rather at yelling it at the top of our lungs, without any Love attached. John Mark does an excellent job of speaking Biblical truth in a loving way to Christians and nonChristians alike. You might not agree with what is presented, but I don't think you'll walk away thinking you are hated.

Short but on point. Focuses more on scripture and truths about love than cheesy suggestions for what to do in relationships. Still feels challenging and engaging to one that has read too many self help books.

Highly recommend! I wish I would have read this book sooner, especially before I was married. I like that it can apply to everyone - single, dating, engaged, married!

A must read in my opinion for all young adults navigating love and relationships.

John Mark Comer is quickly becoming one of my favorite voices in the church. He is a wealth of knowledge but he also takes complex subjects and make them easy to understand. I love his approach to singleness, love, marriage, and sex. This book is loaded with Hebrew and Greek words that reveal the heart of God for each of the subjects John Mark tackles in this book.

I am sad I did not read a hard copy of this book (I have the ebook) because I prefer to highlight and write notes in the margins instead of using the electronic options on my Nook. I highly recommend this book and also John Mark’s sermon series on these same topics.

I first read this as a single, college sophomore, then again as a married woman of three years. Excellent wisdom both times!
