Pretty good, some stuff feels a bit outdated and hilarious how Russell Brand is a frequently quoted interviewee

The core thesis’ in this book - ‘normal’ doesn’t exist, trauma has lasting impact and we need to look at society for cures - was nothing new to me. Bullying being a ‘small t’ trauma and ‘highly sensitive’ children being more affected by it was already such an unnuanced way of describing it, that I decided to look up reviews on how Maté deals with neurodivergence. Turns out, not well. Just another overgeneralised, unnuanced book then.

Good book for hippies who don't like data and studies.

While listening to the audiobook, I felt a number of times that we were veering into pseudoscience.
I'm certainly not going to praise modern society as idyllic, but if all it takes for lifelong trauma is to be away from your mother for a few days when you're a toddler I don't see how humanity has ever been or will ever be free from trauma.

this book should just be required reading everywhere.
