This book was a fun time. The setting is great, the characters are fun, and the premise is adorable. There are a few things that I would tweak to make this series 5 stars for me, but I enjoyed the time I spent with the McBrides.
This book focuses on Morgan McBride. Junebug, Morgan's little sister, is tired of cooking and returns to her trusted method of getting out of chores--marrying off one of her brothers so his new wife can help out. She sends out for a mail-order bride, and Pip answers the call. The only problem is that Morgan didn't ask for a bride. Pip is a good Nebraska girl, but doesn't feel valued in her current community. She's too opinionated and too tall, and no one wants to marry her. Morgan is looking to escape his family and all the responsibility that comes with them. Junebug is here to play matchmaker.
Morgan's story has a similar issue to Kit's. This isn't the Pip and Morgan story, it's the Junebug show with a side of Pip and Morgan. I actually think Morgan and Pip were more fleshed out characters than Kit and Maddy (who I basically remember nothing about), but their love story definitely took a hit on page time. Since they didn't have much time together, it left the romance with a heavy insta-love feeling. That's definitely not my favorite trope. What we did get was a fun story. Junebug was just as entertaining in this novel as she was in the first. Morgan was the definition of grumpy. I think Pip was the perfect person for him. I could have used a few more scenes as they got to know each other (perhaps more train time?), but their love did leave me with a smile. There was also a tiny bit of spice that I really wasn't expecting since the first one was so closed door. It was well done and added a lot to their romance.
I will definitely continue on with this series. I literally can not wait for Junebug to get her own book. Her getting a taste of her own medicine will be amazing.

Man with all the audacity falls in lust for the only hot woman in a 200 mile radius.

I love this series! I know Beau is probably the next up considering how this one ended, but I can’t wait for Junebug to get her featured book with I’m assuming Purdy Joe as her love interest.
When Junebug places an ad for a wife for her brother, she doesn’t expect a woman such as Epiphany (Pip) to answer. Morgan is the eldest sibling and has become the families protector since their Ma and Pa ran off – but he years for the trail. Morgan has no idea that Junebug is trying to find him a wife. When Pip shows up at Morgan’s door – they don’t exactly hit it off. Will Morgan see what is right in front of his face with Pip, or will he leave and live his life on the trail?
This book was full of quirky lovable characters. and I enjoyed that immensely. However, the pacing on this one was rather slow, and I felt that took away from the book. I felt like the author truly explored the time period that this was based (western era – US) because the lingo and mannerisms were on par with what I’ve come to expect. I’d love to read a book about Junebug. She was by far my favorite character.
If you enjoyed book one in this series, you will likely enjoy this one. Just be prepared that this is not a closed-door romance!
Thank you to the publisher Berkley Publishing, @berkleypub, @BerkleyRomance, and Netgalley @netgalley for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Netgalley will be updated with social media link one week prior to pub as requested.
