The only book an english teacher made me read that I actually thoroughly enjoyed
A Heart-Pounding Saga That Hits All the Right Notes
Truman Capote’s In Cold Blood is a true-crime epic that grabs you by the heart and doesn’t let go. This isn’t just a story about a murder; it’s a deep dive into a Kansas town’s soul, with characters so real you feel their joys and fears. Capote’s writing is pure gold, painting Holcomb’s wide-open plains and cozy homes with such vividness I could smell the wheat fields. Every page crackles with detail, from the Clutter family’s warm routines to the killers’ twisted paths, making this 1959 tragedy feel alive and gut-wrenching. For someone who loves big stories and complex characters, this is a home run.
The Clutters, the investigators, even the perpetrators—everybody’s fleshed out with care. You’ll ache for the family’s lost dreams and get chills watching the killers wrestle with their own demons. Capote nails the emotional payoff, weaving justice, loss, and quiet hope. One line sums up the story’s haunting grip: “Imagination, of course, can open any door—turn the key and let terror walk right in.” It’s a history lesson and a crime thriller rolled into one. I was skeptical about the hype, but this book earned every bit of praise.
In Cold Blood is a masterclass in storytelling—deep, thrilling, and unforgettable. If you’re into history or crime, you will love this story.

I am so glad that this book is finished. It bored me to death. I only began it because I was listening to On the Road audiobook and then I came across Capote's quote about how Kerouac's book was not writing but typing and since I was more or less of the same opinion, I thought let's read something by Capote and see where I stand in this. Well, In Cold Bood was a big disappointment. Pompous and long, it delivered a very insubstantial content. I finally had to set the audiobook to 1.5 times the normal speed to avoid dozing off due to its monotony. Not a good experience at all.

It was really slow and I found it to be rather boring most of the time.
5/5 estrellas
Simplemente EXCELENTE.

not much to complain about, but not much I'll remember either. maybe the genre is not my thing. 3.5/5 rounded down.
Not dnfing for forever, I'm just not in the mood for this book currently. I will hopefully try again later.
Exceptionally beautiful prose, and very detailed - it was hard to believe this was non-fiction.
I thought Capote did an especially good job humanizing both the killers and the victims, and leaving no detail unexplored. Even with the massive amounts of detail and backstory, this was a page-turner.
