i don’t want to live in a world where i never read this! this was absolutely incredible & so captivating. it kept me so engaged & Amina was such a cool character to read about & someone i wanted to get to know more & more about. i can’t wait for the trilogy & to read more about her & her crew.
forever in my heart & a fantasy i will continue to recommend!!!

I struggled a lot to get into this book, being overwhelmed by the world and its traditions. After switching from the physical book to the audiobook, however, the story easily picked up pace. (Partly, because I finally heard how some names were pronounced).

Would I recommend this book? Yes. After the main crew is assembled, the book is a great read! However, I would also warn that the start can feel very, tantalizingly slow.

Also, interesting to know, this book seems to be the setup for a larger series.

I didn't hate this book, there was definitely something missing, but overall I enjoyed this as a fun pirate story, and interesting history facts
