I absolutely loved everything about this book! The characters were amazing and the world was so wonderfully described. I like that Amina is a middle aged mother who comes out of pirate retirement to kick some butt!! I found this a pleasant mix between the pirate story of Fable and the magic of A Darker Shade of magic series. I will definitely be reading more from Shannon.

So the first half of this book I loved. The characters and the storyline was really easy to follow, and you could imagine how it was going to be a great book. But then it hit around 60% in and then it started to lose me. The book took an odd turn in the realm of fantasy and creatures, which just didn’t seem to fit or land with me. There is no doubt it’s a good book, and really well written, but for me i was lost after 60% sadly!

An interesting story. I loved the inclusiveness of it, however, the characters were a little to childish at times and the story lost me halfway through
