Big warning for INJURY DETAIL. I skipped ahead a bit

This worked well as an audiobook, because the narrator's voice is already so strong.

I did get a bit lost, kept forgetting Andrew exists.

I'd read it again just to note down who everyone in the family has killed.

Lots of dark humour, good to be reading an Aussie novel.

I just couldn’t get into the style of writing (I.e., breaking the fourth wall, cliches out the wazoo, punny and sarcastic quips, etc.) and a lot of it felt like he had to really really spell it all out for the reader, too much for even a mystery novel where everything gets revealed at the end.

I do think it’s unique that they’re not all bloodthirsty, intentional murderers, but that everyone HAS killed someone, even by accident or whatever — unique way of changing up the content from the title.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I was hooked from the synopsis and the book grabbed on and never let go. It had twists and turns and I never could quite stay on top of everything that was happening. It felt a lot like the movie Knives Out, but fresh and different at the same time. The Cunningham family has gathered at a mountain resort to welcome one of their own who has been in jail. It may seem like you know the whole story, but trust me, you don't. If you enjoy humor and mystery and family drama, I highly recommend picking this one up! The audio was very well done too and enjoyable to listen to. The voice for Ernie was perfect!

I absolutely ADORE this book, I think it's my favorite mystery novel I've ever read.

Ernest and his family feel like incredibly real people, all of them are flawed but extremely lovable. Ernie has this witty narration style that pokes fun at the mystery genre without dipping into outright insulting it, instead many of the jabs feel loving and lighthearted towards the typical tropes of a mystery novel. There's a lot of clever clues and build ups to the big twists, this is absolutely a novel you'll want to read/listen to several times. You'll pick up on so much on your other read throughs. I like them so much I refuse to mention spoilers in this review less I give it all away for someone who gets a little too nosy before they read the book. Go read this right now.
