I really did enjoy this, but I felt like it basically repeated everything I knew from the other book, just from a different perspective.

"because Maxon stood between me and that love, I didn’t
think there was anything he could say or do that would make
me consider him a decent person."

Aspen is annoying to say the least. I'm not exaggerating.
It's so annoying how he's so fixated on America and just can't accept that she's moved on - I mean HELLO you were the one who told her to go in the first place!!

I hate how he just thinks of Maxon as dirt trash and nothing else... just coz he's the one that has America's attention.

But still, it was nice getting his pov on things, he still tries really hard to win her heart which is sweet... and despite everything I dislike about him I really want him to get his own HEA - maybe with Lucy?? They seemed sweet together... idk?

Alsoooo... is the stable man that Aspen keeps meeting Woodwork?? It makes sense, right??? Coz maxon told America he'd be in the stables disguised... and Aspen knew he'd seen him before...

okay im actually so tired with kiera cass books this is probably the last one ill ever read (unless someone forces me on gunpoint to read the heir)

like,??her books are so ,,well,, meaningless? there's a girl who doesn't do shit but she's credited to be strong, then a guy who dumps her and hands her over to the prince then whines about it 24/7, there's the whole abusive plot that was literally executed so pathetically and then we have the whole glossed over versions over what's going on in the country? the king is brave and strong and doesn't tolerate shit :-) but hey! he'll totally let rebels attack the ROYAL palace every three days :-) hey! look! the king is abusive! let's write a love story crediting him as some surviving hero!
girl: *whines about dresses everyday*
girl: *is somehow exactly the compassionate queen the country needs*

like ok

While I enjoyed seeing how Aspen is taking this whole thing, this short story did nothing to persuade me. Maxon is the one for America, not Aspen.
Oh I can't wait till The One comes out.
