3.5 ⭐️ Simultaneously boring and really good. More of a crime procedural and thriller, rather than horror. First half was a lot of build up and seemed to go very slowly, but the reveals and twists at the last 30% were well worth it. Liked the different POVs as well as parts of the story being told through old interviews.

I was not expecting this to be as twisty and unpredictable as it was, and I loved it. The topics brought up in this book were heavy (definitely check trigger warnings), but not so much that the book felt particularly dark. Definitely was not expecting some of the things talked about in this book. I love that this was more than your standard detective mystery. Another 5 star read from J.H. Markert!

This book wasn’t awful by any means but it takes time to actually understand what is actually going on.
Definitely some creepy parts. I thought the multiple personalities was entertaining. Maybe it was me, but it could have gone more into depth why the FMC was a target.
