Great book, perfect for spooky season. Started off strong, characters were well developed. It did get a little confusing at times trying to distinguish between characters and everything happening.
I’d definitely recommend Sleep Tight to anyone seeking a fast paced psychological thriller with cult vibes!

What a wonderful thriller. Just as you figure something out, the story twists, and you realize that there is more left to discover. A truly enjoyable book that will keep you invested from start to finish.
I honestly don’t know why it took me so long to get through this book, because man was it a good time. Markert’s writing style, again, is so smooth here, which makes for a very easy reading experience. Loved the characters, and thought that the buildup was certainly worth the time put in. I was expecting this to be a part of the “Nightmare Man” and “Mister Lullaby” universe, so I’m glad to see that this isn’t connected and is just a standalone novel. I’m eagerly anticipating his next novel and am so glad to finally have this one under my belt.

You really had me in the first part I thought I was going to get a rough and tumble detective who's an alcoholic and spends too much time away from their family but instead Tess contributes the least of the three leads being the only one who doesn't figure out who the mastermind is and then in the climax instead of fighting the bad guys she passes out remembers her secret traumatic past that she murdered some guys that tried to sa her and then when she wakes up all the bad guys are dead.
Look I can accept that some mysteries are gonna be sexist, it just sucks when the woman is supposedly your lead character.

Sleep Tight by J.H. Markert is a darkly riveting thriller that plunges readers into the shadowy legacy of Father Silence, a serial killer who terrorized the town of Twisted Tree. When Tess Claibourne’s father—a detective who helped bring down Father Silence—is mysteriously murdered, and her own daughter is taken by a new killer called the Outcast, Tess must confront her past traumas to uncover the truth. Markert’s storytelling expertly balances tension with horror, weaving a twisted narrative that keeps readers hooked until the final page. Though some plot points may feel familiar to fans of the genre, the relentless suspense and Tess's emotional depth make this a gripping 4-star read.

This was such a captivating book! I was hooked throughout the entire thing. I liked that each chapter was kind of in the perspective of each character but had bits from everyone else as well. There were a few characters that I think could have been more built out, but overall it was really well done. A good thriller with a satisfying ending!

Sleep Tight by J H Markert
When a serial killer is put to death finally, things should have been over… But the trouble is just beginning. Murders are happening and missing children…. Detective Tess Clairborne has a vested interest in this case. Her father put the serial killer away and it seems to be her family being targeted by the horrors that have just begun.
Have you ever listened to a book and it just hits you? I love horror but it's been years since a really good horror hit my TBR and this one ticked all my creeper boxes.
The Outcast has committed murder and taken Tess’ daughter. He is even leaving clues but why? I loved the characters. This book was a spider web of intrigue and bone chilling aftershocks! I didn’t expect the ending and I held my own kids a little tighter when I was done.
4.5 stars
