I just finished Thistlefoot and I am a different person now. This is the best book I’ve read in a long time and I wouldn’t change a single thing about it. It’s weird and horrifying and beautiful and interesting. I’ll probably be thinking about it for a long time.

There's so much here to love: folklore, magic, a house on chicken-legs, deep connection to history and Jewish roots. But, Thistlefoot is longer than needed and crosses the line into action-film-mode when its best qualities are character, setting, history, and mystique.
