Good book, felt a bit boring at the end, They call it "the calm before the storm" but it felt kind of more relaxed than it shoud have been for at that moment, that "relaxiveness" was needed but I felt it could have been written in a slightly better enviroment. Why the vagueness of the spicey parts??? But otherwise I actually really enjoyed it. Somettimes you just need that streotype teenege love book.

This was even better than first book. Much more exciting because it didn't have to set up the whole story (but did a good job reminding me what happened since I read the first book awhile back). I love the modernization of the Greek myth. I liked getting to know John's character better. Can't wait for #3!

Incredibly better than the first! This was a true Meg Cabot book and I loved it.

I'm excited to see where it goes with Alex.

This book is mostly dialogue and not much actually happening.. at least the first book had some interesting parts. Although, another reviewer here spoiled some of the book for me, so there was no surprise left (there is an option to hide review because of spoilers, people.)

I've been very disappointed with Meg Cabot's writing in the past few years. I feel like nothing much happened the entire book. John Hayden is sexy but that's all this book has going for it.

I remember liking the first book of this series (a Persephone myth-related story), but this one just didn't pull me in. I didn't feel connected to any of the characters and it didn't seem like there was much of a plot.

There is a lot going on with this. It is wrong. A lot is wrong.

I'm going to be honest, I will always like Meg Cabot books. Not just because I'm a loyal reader, but because I just always enjoy her style of writing and her creativity. I liked this book. I know many people don't because they feel John and Pierce's relationship is a bit toxic, which I get and is why I rated this three instead of four stars, but at the same time...it's a relationship between a 17 year old girl who by nature acts implusively, and a supernatural figure who became the death deity by being a tiny bit on the dark side. It's not going to be a "normal" teenage relationship. It's a retelling of a Greek myth, for goodness sake. It's going to have hopeless romance and treachery and violence and betrayal and unrealistic elements. Again, I could definitely see some similarities to Twilight in terms of a supernatural boy and a human girl hopelessly being pulled together by love. However, Pierce, though being rather naive, is most certainly a stronger female lead than Bella. And John is a more complex male lead than Edward. Like, he doesn't treat Pierce in a condescending and all-knowing matter. They try to work together.
