Much more happened in this book than in the previous. I enjoyed this so much more

I think this was better than Abandon due to the fact that there was a little more substance about John Hayden. The first novel gave the reader zip when it came to his character.

Genre: paranormal romance, retold mythology
Summary: Pierce is learning how to deal with the consequences of being consort to The Lord of the Underworld, while still trying to protect those who she cares about. It's a tricky situation, but she is figuring it out one situation at a time.
Response: Guys, I liked this one soooo much better than the first one. The last one comes out in July, so I am eager to see how it will all conclude. Sometimes the rules seem to change on a whim, but overall, I'm pleased with Meg Cabot's re-imagining of the story. I guess this story has a bit more hope than the first one. It seemed all future-less, but even though this one ended in a cliffhanger too, I was hopeful about it.

Great, great book, loved rereading it, and the ending, so good, and yeah, I can't wait to see how it's going to end!

Really great book, really enjoyed it, glad to see a lot more of John's past, and all that, just the best! Can't wait for Awaken, and what's going to happen with her family and friends!

This second book worked a bit better for me than the first, as we're given a lot more answers about John and Coffin Night. I'm still not sure what to think of Pierce and John's relationship, it feels almost like an old fashioned romance love than anything a contemporary teen would be into, but John is still sexy. I also very much enjoyed meeting John's Underworld crew, they added some humor as well as history to the story. Normally Meg Cabot's books are a wonderful mix of humor and romance, but for some reason this series isn't huge on the laughs. Pierce is still all over the place about... everything, but she has enough spunk and self awareness to make up for some of the incredibly naive and unawareness she also displays.

There is some smexy times in this book, but I thought Cabot handled it brilliantly, it wasn't crude, it wasn't too much. Because it's hard to believe that when teen boys and girls hookup with paranormally hot peeps that some smex isn't going to go down. Trust me, if there'd been a hot death deity haunting the Underworld of Nicktown, PA back when I was a teen then my good Catholic girl status would have taken some hits. That said, I don't want to read YA books full of smut... that's what Fifty Shades of Gray is for! ;)

While the first book was a bit slow and laying down the groundworkish, book two was definitely faster paced. I'll read the next book in the series, but I'm still looking more forward to the next Heather Wells book!

I liked it well enough. Pierce is one of those characters who is very in your face when she wants something, which could be a little annoying at times because I'm totally not one of those people. John was being stupid by not setting Pierce's ideas straight.

I thought some scenes with John were cute but there still wasn't a lot of action. It seemed like the whole book was about protecting Alex. I seriously expected her to stay in the Underworld more or have the dream actually happen or something.

Long Story short: it was clearly a romance, mythology novel. It was pretty good. But it wasn't intense or totally memorable. But still something I would read for something new.

First I hate the ending! The reason, I am going to have to wait to read the third one! I also wish I had bought the book instead of borrowing it from the library. There were a few things that I didn't love, which is the only reason that I didn't give the book five stars.

This book was soooo much better than the first one and the first one was completely amazing! Can't wait for Awaken to come out! :D

OH. My. Gosh. That was amazing! I read that in record time. I can't wait for Awaken!
