This book was a romantic whirlwind with all of my favorite tropes, from forbidden romance to only one bed! Multiple points-of-view are masterfully used to build suspense and drama between the characters. Although at many points, the plot was predictable, which removes the shock-value from the surprises. Overall, SUCH a fun read that I binge-read in 2 days!

loved this book ! got me out of a reading slump and was an easy, non-stressful read. the characters were definitely frustrating from time to time,
(i just want them all to be with the people who will actually make them happy, is that too much to ask ??)
but very likable.
(except for daphne, who i literally wanted to push off a cliff. i don’t care if it’s her parents that have pushed her to be the way she is, she is her own person and needs an attitude check.)
the book was kinda long though, with not a lot happening, so it might be hard for people to stick with it.

The story is very predictable. There were moments when the characters could have done something interesting and unpredictable, but they never did. Everyone was so understanding and forgiving when they were wronged or mistreated that even the drama was predictable and kind of uninteresting. I liked the characters but didn’t love them. They could have been deeper and more complicated.

Overall, I really liked the concept of an alternate history of the U.S. becoming a monarchy. It was well written and I liked the varying perspectives of the different characters. It could have been so much more.

This was a fun drama filled read. I really only liked Beatrice and Conner. Sam was a little to self centered for me but she was fine( I don’t really feel her romance to be honest). Nina was fine but honestly a little boring(I also feel like her romance was just there to be there). And Daphne I hate she’s literally horrible.

This was so disappointing..
I was anticipating a Red White & Royal Blue meets The Selection but instead it was boring and it lagged sooo much.

It was also very frustrating how NONE of the plot points tied up at the end and  I def don’t want to read the sequel.

Just all around such an unsatisfying read.
also, are we really supposed to sympathize with a girl who drugged her friend and committed MANSLAUGHTER?! <spoiler/>
