This book was an informative read, however, the title and description did not accurately reflect the content of the book. The scope of the content was fairly limited to COVID and maternal health within an American context. It also heavily focused on recounting individuals’ experiences, which is of course important but there was not a particularly strong focus on the ways in which healthcare systems and government as major contributors.
Graphic: Death and Miscarriage
Moderate: Sexual assault

This is SUCH an important topic, and completely infuriating to read. I think there was too much focus on the Covid-19 pandemic (which, to be clear, is also an extremely important topic to write and read about) but I think it overshadowed all the ways in which these issues are so pervasive in general and makes it seem more limited to just this scenario.

An interesting book with some excellent points although it was too focused around pregnancy specifically. I would have loved some more information about chronic pain for instance.
