Jules accidentally comes out as gay to everyone after a drunked message on Twitter goes viral. He has to navigate high-school life as someone who's no longer in the closet. He's lucky to have a supportive friend group when some people don't take the news well and the bullying starts. The only thing that makes his life worthwhile is his friends and his long distance boyfriend, Mat.

I really enjoyed it!

The appropriate amount of whataburger love and in n out hate (in n out is trash). Single POV. Super cute and it is a romance though it’s long distance so not a ton of face to face interactions. A coming out and coming of age story. He does out himself to his friends but not truly on purpose and then he is outed to his dad without his consent. There are some rough parts of his story but overall it was so cute and fun and emotional.

The only word that even comes close to describing this novel is…beautiful. This was an absolutely stunning, beautiful debut novel filled with joy, pain, and love. There were moments where I cried. There were moments where I literally laughed out loud. There was a moment where I was so happy that I made a weird sound that made my own partner genuinely concerned for my wellbeing and sanity. This was just beautiful. The characters, the story, the writing, all of it.

When I read Ander and Santi Were Here this summer, I was so captivated. This one is not quite as charming and engrossing, but I still loved it. Really fantastic characters, sweet queer romance, heavy themes (see content warnings), happy endings. Can't wait for their upcoming release in 2024, I'm jumping on it immediately when it's released.
