I really loved the banter b/n the two MC  and having misery progress as a character
Glad we got to see her happy
I think one of the only things i didnt like was
When Lowe tries to tell misery she had it wrong and that having sex was really fun but he didnt live her or care for her. Obviously such a lie but idk to me was very triggering. I understand why he did it (to protect himself her) but it goes so against everything we see about his character that it just doesnt super sense.

Smut level: 4.5/5 for me;very smut
The sex scenes in this book were very graphic and really intense and rough. I personally like lusty but loving and this wasnt really that. It was mostly pure intense rough lust sex

It is very very irritating to care about people who think they have the right to make decisions for "your own good" and Misery is surrounded by them. There isn't a single person around her who has any faith whatsoever in her decision making skills. Rightfully so perhaps, but it still leads to a lot of easy to avoid misunderstandings.

I had a great time with the book, as obvious as some twists were and even with the third act breakup or whatever, but I enjoyed the jokes, the characters, the simple structure and the general focus on relationships with this one.

I knew there had to be a catch. The first part had all the dynamics I like in a romantasy. The second part…reminded me that if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Ok. Wasn’t sure I was gonna be able to buy into this one, BUT Ali Hazelwood absolutely crushed this story.

Misery and Lowe are hilarious and the back and forth of their dynamic was so fun to dive into. Plus the mystery of it all!!

Did some of the Were/Vampyre mannerisms make me go, “Really?” Absolutely, but again, I did get on board and had a great time 😂

It's a fun read if you're just looking for low-stakes (teehee) forbidden romance masquerading as a dangerous political intrigue romantasy novel. That SOUNDS mean but I swear that's the exact vibe I got, not a bad read at all!

The worldbuilding left something to be desired and while I think the main couple is sort of cute (maybe not my taste in ships tbf), I found that a particular turning point in the back end of the book felt a bit ooc. That's coming from someone who IS a sucker for the miscommunication trope. The trope is really good if done right and I just didn't like it so much here, is all!
