My 10 year old LOVED this book. There was a shocking point where the Beast offers to grant Bethany a wish. Other than that, it was funny and the character growth.... THE CHARACTER GROWTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dit was zo lief en leuk! Kon me niets anders wensen dan door dit boek te worden vergezeld tijdens de twee weken lange oorontsteking.

Such a fun book. To me, it had the same magical feelings as The House on the Cerulean Sea and A Man Called Ove. Just really enjoyable.
LIKES:
1) having no idea what it was about and being sucked in immediately! That’s a talent, since I’ve been in a moody slump
2) shockingly enough Ebenezer and Bethany. Their relationship was so awkward and cute and redemptive.
3) all the magic. I just loved how it was totally normal to have this beast, to be 500+ years old, and to leave in that giant home. No one batted an eye.
4) the true bad people got what they deserved and I didn’t feel bad about it at all
5) there is more! What a fun way to end and get us ready to start the next one immediately!
DISLIKES:
1) I can’t really think of one, it was a solid middle grade book.
This is definitely a book I’d put in my class. In fact I spoke to my students about on Friday and they were all excited to find out what happened next! Thank you libro.fm for having the ALC Educators program. I have gotten some of the most beautiful middle grade and ya books through this program!

This is such a fabulous book!! Smart, fast-paced and funny, and with a wonderful message, too.
