This is just a sweet, cozy story all around. There are some interesting discussions about grief and moving on, and how working through the emotions after someone close to you dies affects everyone differently; but overall it’s a comforting world. It’s set in one of those fictional small towns where everyone’s welcoming and quirky and the newcomer instantly becomes part of the community. The magical elements felt secondary to me, they were there and enjoyable, but the story could have happened without them.

This was the first book I’ve read from this author, and I’ll totally look for more of her work next time I want a charming world to sink into.

3.75 ⭐️ rounded up. Sweet book about a small southern beach town in Alabama. Magical realism with romance, family and self discovery. Quirky characters and charm.

sweet cosy story
lighthearted medium-paced

Cute and everyone got a happy ending wrapped up in a perfect neat little bow. Writing was fine, would have liked more in depth looks at the characters

I just have to stop reading “cozy” stories. They are not my thing.

Such a heartwarming book with a twist of surprise. Loved it!!!
