Once I got about 60% to 70% in it lost my interest completely. I guess you could say it’s a feel-good story but there were just too many side characters, and the story just wasn’t interesting.

Solid 3.5. A nice lighthearted read. It just felt like it remained very level with not much happening throughout, and then in the last couple of chapters it was bambambam so much happening lol.
This had a lot of potential but fell flat. If I wasn’t such a big fan I’d g Heather Webber this probably would have been a DNF. I had a hard time keeping track of all the side characters and I found the ending confusing. I listened to some of the book on audio and narration for Sam was terrible. His voice was done in a whisper and it was really hard to hear.

If you are looking for a book of sweet, syrupy tropes, this is the book for you. While I didn’t hate it and there were moments that genuinely made me smile, it lacked the depth of other magical realism books like those of Sarah Addison Allen. Just a little too perfect.
This was a sweet story set in an Alabama costal town filled with quirky characters. It was a cozy read about found family, being your true self, and moving forward all sprinkled with some magical realism. There were a few times the coincidences stacked up a bit too precariously, but overall it was a fun read. I would suggest this one if you are needing a warm book hug.
