A bit slow and took a while to pull me in, but I felt satisfied and enjoyed it in the end.

Even though this book isn't the genre, I typically read, I picked it up because I thought it would be a fun read. I love to sew and figured it would be fun to read about someone else who also does. Boy, was I wrong. This book was poorly written with repetitive language. The characters were all too perfect, but mostly this book screams of white saviour complex. It's gross and I couldn't even finish it because of that. Save your time and read something else.

I definitely enjoyed this book the back and forth in the timeline was a nice change of pace. But I did feel as though the end came a bit to quickly everything was wrapped up in a neat little bow in two chapters!! I would have liked to have read more about how things came to end. We didn’t get everyone’s reactions and in some ways I’m sitting here wondering ‘how did they get here?’!!

Not what I expected, and I liked it!

Started off interesting then I ended up scanning through the rest of it.

Caroline Shelby has always had an eye for fashion, eschewing working at her family's restaurant in favor of spending hours sewing. So, when her friend, fashion model Angelique is killed, and designer Mick Taylor steals Caroline's designs, Caroline flees back to Oysterville with Angelique's children, Flick and Addie, to rebuild her life. She left years earlier after the man she adored since she was a teen, Will Jensen, married her best friend, Sierra. Now, back in Oysterville, Caroline must come to terms with her love for Will and being a mother to these two children, while trying to recreate her dream of being a fashion designer.
This is a sweet story of love, family, and friendship, along with following your heart and your dream. This also explores abuse, drug use, and industrial theft. Overall, however, the novel is uplifting and hopeful.

It took me awhile to get into the book. The story took off for me a little over halfway through the book. Caroline is a very likable character and I was definitely rooting for her. Wiggs did a fantastic job addressing the issue of domestic violence and its effects.

The book does seem to wrap things up very neatly though.

Just the right book at the right time.

I found this book in a discount bin and wasn't sure about it but bought it anyway. It is a really good book that talks about an important issue. Domestic violence is hard to talk about, and this author went about it in a very thoughtful and informative way. Lots of good information and story as well.
