The Oysterville Sewing Circle by Susan Wiggs
Starts out with listings of other works by the author which I think I've read them all and enjoyed.
Dedication which I have no idea why but will find out by the time I've read this and a table of contents.
Caroline arrives back in town and sees her old boyfriend with a bunch of guys running.....Love new words I'm learning and I know they won't be overused.
She rushes to get the young boy, not her kids and then rushes back to young girl. Coach Jensen had held onto the young boy for her...
Then we get to the story about when Caroline is in NY and she's in the middle of a fashion show-for Mick...
Love hearing of the design world and the sewing parts of it, so interesting and recyclable using things others would've tossed away.
Had tears come to my eyes when she learns on the runway that Mick's stolen her designs and used them for himself....
So realistic, up to date with undocumented pregnant model...
Blacklisted and then her best friend who's pregnant moves in with her and the children
There is so much to this story about love romance sewing helping others, handling anger, making it through difficult times, surviving and finding out the truth.
Wow hits her when she finds out who really killed her friend, didn't see that coming but now the dedication makes sense to me.
Proceeds from the sale of the book will go towards domestic abuse.
Learned so many cool things reading this one-Krav Maga for one-maybe it'll help my grandson with his disease/illness.
Note from the author, acknowledgements, about the author and publisher are also included at the end.
Received this review copy from HarperCollins Publishers via William Morrow at NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

Susan Wiggs has a lovely cadence to her writing. She weaves tales of families, friendships and love in a unique fashion. In this story Caroline returns home to the safe haven she grew up in. While she wasn't necessarily eager to return home, it was the best choice. I love how Caroline embraces her new life and uses her learning to help others. I enjoyed the way the tale moved from past to present at times to reveal history that shapes the current situation.

This was an enjoyable book, but nothing special. The story was pretty predictable.

Life has taken a big turn and Caroline finds herself back in her hometown with the 2 young children of her deceased friend in tow and her fashion career over after being blackballed by her stealing former boss. Somehow she has to find a way to make a life for herself and the 2 devastated kids. With the support of friends and family she embarks on an unexpected journey to make a life and find out the truth about her friend's life and death.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an arc for my honest review.

PT-BR:

ENG:
Third book I read by the author and probably the last one. So many stereotypes, weak/boring romance... the book overall felt very flat (despite some interesting topics). It always surprises me how Americans see people from other countries (they always think they NEED to save us all

There’s something about books set on the beach that has always hooked me - maybe growing up in landlocked Iowa? This story of Caroline, a former designer who moved home to Oysterville, Washington with the two children she became mother to overnight when her best friend died was no exception. I was invested in their story, however, it seemed at times to move too fast and I couldn’t stay invested in the characters as a result. Adding in the social commentary on domestic abuse felt contrived throughout much of the novel. Ultimately, I enjoyed the story between Caroline and her family, as well as the romance that brewed.

Finished it in a day! I could not put this down! So much heart, drama,& love weaved throughout this book that I felt like I was in Oysterville from start to finish!

Lots of emotions in this story. Caroline's relationship with her friend felt forced, as did the start-up of a support group to help her kids. There were good topics though... don't give in to bullies, speak up, there's nothing a group of women and the truth cannot accomplish.

Definitely not what you believe it to be by looking at the cover. Deals with the serious subject of domestic abuse. This book was very good. I recommend it highly.

Cute, predictable but had a good message
