Good premise but the important bits were underdeveloped or glossed over. Felt like it never reached its potential.

Took me a bit to get into this but once I did I didn't want to put it down.
Story kept my interest- but it felt scattered. Wished it were more about the sewing circle and their relationships and progress, and less about the romantic story- which was a whole lotta nothing and then felt rushed at the end. Ending with Mick felt really coincidental… and was unclear how the court case was resolved.
Overall, I enjoyed it, but maybe the story needed another draft to hone and focus it.

While domestic violence, drug addition, and sexual assault are all briefly part of the storyline, they are not given enough of the plot to really make them integral. I found this to be more of a romance read than anything else. The conclusion is quite predictable as well.
Caroline Shelby returns to her hometown, Oysterville, Washington with two young children in tow. Her friend was the victim of domestic violence died a drug overdose leaving them motherless. Caroline took them in, but can’t support them in New York City as her career as a fashion designer in New York City is ruined. Her designs were stolen and she doesn’t have steady work. Upon her arrival, she runs into Will Jensen, a flame from her very distant past, who married her best friend.

This book is not my typical style of reading but I enjoyed it very much. "The Osterville Sewing Circle" is about the power of family, the acceptance of others, and how goodness can shape your life. Perfect read at a perfect time.
Was excited to read this as one of my Giveaway wins! This book was an interesting combination of a lifelong love story, an adoption process, running a business, drug use, and domestic violence. Overall I enjoyed the story enough to check out other books of hers. The domestic violence women’s group/sewing circle seemed an underdeveloped theme for me. It seemed like it hung too much in the background, given the name of the book. I liked the characters and overall enjoyed the read, but it left me wanting more depth in some areas.
