I la la loooooooves Warcross. Probably my favorite book of the year, so I was pretty leery about Wildcard messing up my view of Warcross. I will admit, the book is a bit of a slog. It’s missing the magic of Warcross and we’re left with just the angst of Emika, Hideo and Zero. The tone is darker and bleaker and when it’s over, you’re not left with the rush that Warcross left you with.
HOWEVER, I do believe the book is worth reading and the two taken as a whole tell a fuller, more real and more emotionally-driven story than just Warcross alone. We get Sasuke’s story, as bleak as it is, and we get reconciliation and the growth of Hideo’s character into a fully-realized human.
I’m slightly dissatisfied at the end of the book (will there be a third) but I still flew through it and found it engaging, if a bit slow.

История не плохая, но не оригинальная.
Вторaя часть мне даже больше понравилась, но всё по порядку.

Loopholes: like we are under the impression Zero has access to all the data and hacking but when she’s making plans with her friends he’s just not aware?? The end was rushed and not concrete. Overall Zero’s storyline really didn’t make sense and had little connection.
This started out slow and I began thinking how I really didn't want to read Wildcard, but as it picked up steam I sort of remembered the first book and things got a little more interesting. I felt Emika was so bland though and I just couldn't understand her importance to the book honestly. Overall this was good but I am not sure I will continue reading sequels if there are any. #wildcard #bookworm #bookish #bookstagram
I liked the first one, Warcross, better - but perhaps that was because I listened to that one on audiobook rather than reading it? A quick and fun read with very little sexual content. Definitely YA appropriate.
I thought this was a pretty solid conclusion to the story! It went in a lot of directions I didn’t see coming and was very action-packed. I don’t think it’s better than the first book, but it’s definitely a fun time.
Hrozně mě mrzí, že to končí. Wildcard sice nabyla tak dobrá jako Warcross, přesto to byla jízda. Příběh se mimo jiné krásně čte, jak už je u Marie Lu zvykem.
