First off, this doesn't seem like a series you need to read in any particular order. Each of the seven books tell the story through one of the grandsons, and the novels overlap each other in time. You'll get more if you read several, especially if you read ones about siblings. Spencer is Bunny's brother, so he gets quick messages about Bunny's task (Ink Me).

This was a very fast, middle grade read. The story is gender neutral, which is great. There are elements that will probably attract boys more, and some that will draw girls more. But it was the gangster part of the story line that really kept the story moving along. One thing I liked most was that Spencer seems to be more of an introverted character, and not the stereotypical boy who likes sports and showing off. If you are looking for a contemporary middle grade novel that is not romantic in nature, you should check this out.

I like how both "Ink Me" by Richard Scrimger and this book wove together so that each book had insight into the other story. I liked how the trip into north Ontario mentioned small towns I know. I enjoyed this book, like "Ink Me", because of how the protagonists learn something about themselves (like how loyal they are and what a strong sense of character they have). I have now decided to read the rest of the series and I hope the rest of them are just as well-written and interesting to read.

It was a little hard to follow and I didn't like the story at all.

Spencer wants to make movies. When his grandfather dies and leaves him the task of filming a kiss from an old Hollywood star, he has his perfect opportunity but doesn’t realize it until it’s almost too late. There are interspersed bits of actual movie script style writing. Lots of action. Characters are quite stereotypical. Plot is predictable. Should appeal to reluctant boy readers, however. Is part of a series but stands alone and does not need to be read in any particular order.

Another in the Seven series from Orca, conceived by Eric Walters and written by some of Canada's finest writers for young people. This one was closely linked to Ink Me, by Richard Scrimger, which I read first. The books tell the stories of seven grandsons left tasks by their grandfather on his death. This was lighter than Scrimger's offering, but humorous and enjoyable.

A little disappointing after 'Between heaven and earth' and 'Lost cause'. It took me a while to like the story. The ending was much better written than the beginning.

This is the third book in Seven, The Series (previous books are Between Heaven and Earth and Lost Cause). Each book follows one of the seven grandsons who have been tasked with an assignment in their grandfather's will.
Here we have Spencer, who is off to Humber College in the coming fall to study film. He is a huge movie fan, and often imagines the world around him in filmography terms. He has been given a seemingly simple assignment. Find the aging movie star Gloria Lorraine and film himself getting kissed by her. He is given the money for a good camera and any travel that may be required. There is also a backup assignment if Gloria Lorraine should no longer be living. Spencer easily finds information on Gloria Lorraine on the Internet and his mother remembers her father's love of the actress when she was growing up. He finds her on Facebook and sends her a message, finding her in a seniors' home in Buffalo, not far away at all. This ease makes him feel a little resentful of the larger travel undertaken by his cousins, but he is determined to follow through and get the kiss.
However Gloria Lorraine has other plans. She tells him they have some errands they need to run before she will give him the kiss, and Spencer's adventure begins. With shady characters, guns, and drugs, Gloria's errands take them back into Canada and into northern Ontario on a journey into the past. Oh, and did I mention Gloria's film-loving granddaughter is along for the ride?
Spencer is a nice young man that knows he isn't the macho type that most girls like, but he cares about his family, and keeps his promises, and he thinks on his feet too.
