Heart-breaking, sensitive, stirring, and remarkable. A love letter to Black’s mother, and to the strength in family, in equality, in love, and in purpose.

This was an incredible book. It was moving, inspiring and made me cry lots at the end! I have started to love non-fiction and memoirs, will definitely be reading more from now on!

I pride myself on having a book with me wherever I go and I bask in telling others my opinion on books they have yet to read. I have admired Lance long before reading this book. I listened to his speeches, so I was aware he knew how to make magic with his words. It took me a long time to finish this book. It’s the most honest and heart-wrenching book I have ever had the honor of reading. I shed many tears to this book and sometimes I thought it was too much for me to handle, but the possibility of stopping never crossed my mind. I will probably never recommend a book as earnestly as I do this one, but I do suggest you don’t read it before going to bed.
I have finally found the answer to the questions of "If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, which would it be?" and "If you could have a coffee with any author, alive or dead, which would it be?" - it is this one, and it’s this one.

“To my heart, it felt like the nation I'd always loved was finally getting to know and love their LGBTQ children.”

I'm not crying. Oh hell, yes I am. Nice tears. Loving tears.

What a beautifully written wonderful book! I cherished every quick minute of it and had to slow down to savor all the moments.

One of those books, my friends. One of those books.
